I ripped a mixcloud stream using a great free MediaHuman app (Youtube to Mp3). I now need to rip the desired 6 minute song (in m4a format) from a 2 hour stream. The trouble is: I can’t seem to find a decent app to do it....
Yeah, now they’re doing some stupid shit with upvotes themselves. I have no idea, I’m still using Boost and old.reddit.com when I need to find something on there.
This post started out as a question, but throughout two days of googling it became this compilation of links. I will tell you everything worth mention that I found, share my plan with you, and expect some critics (for the infos of course, please not for the silly hyperactivity of my ADHD brain over such a trivial matter 🥲)....
No, not really. Distros like Ubuntu work pretty much out of the box. Dead simple to install, and easy enough to use that anyone should be able to handle it.
It’s only tricky and confusing if you try to do more advanced things.
I’ve admitted kinda taken a backseat to piracy for the last while, and I’ve seen this term come up a ton. Is it just a remote server that you download all of your shit on?
I used to subscribe to streaming services but then they took all their content that I used to watch off - either to move to another streaming service or just “gone forever”.
If they don’t want the money I was giving them, why do they give a fuck if I pirate it? I tried to do things right and they told me they didn’t want my money.
Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...
I don’t mind it, but I don’t really use it for any of its features. I use i3 over Unity, I think Snaps (and flatpaks, appimages, etc) are dumb as shit.l, and don’t even get me started on how garbage Nautilus is - drives me nuts trying to type a filename in to jump to it only to have Nautilus run a search instead… No idea who thought that was a good idea, but they need to fix that crap already.
I’d probably get by just fine with a full Debian setup tbh.
Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...
That’s the thing that drives me fucking nuts. Use 10 seconds of a song in your 10 minute video, and they get all the money for your work. They should get whatever the percent of your video is that their song occupies at best. If you’re talking/acting over top of their music, then you’re splitting that percentage in half.
Out of the box it can play audio in the background, and now that extensions are available you can block ads as well. You don’t really need constantly updating 3rd party clients or questionable firewalls anymore if you just want usable youtube on a phone.
Last time I tried Newpipe it wasn’t all that great. Would be fine if you just hit up YouTube for random stuff, but didn’t have any consideration for channels you subscribed to. I’m guessing it’s gotten better?
My laptop went bonkers trying to run it, maybe I have something misconfigured somewhere. I wanted to like it because it looks great, but I couldn’t because it was seemingly too resource intensive.
Somebody mentioned I may have been running bpytop, so maybe this whole thing is my bad. I honestly can’t remember what I ran now - I thought it was btop
YouTube's anti-adblock rollout has finally arrived for Firefox users (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
I’m sure many of you are already aware that YouTube has been rolling out anti-adblock detection for Chrome users for a few weeks now....
Can you please recommend an easy to use music trimmer?

Another reason for piracy. (youtu.be)
It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with it
