camelbeard,

Yeah I should have known, started the thing at 12:26 (actually know this because I called my wife to check if we had 3 hours and 38 minutes before we needed to go), its 17:18 and I just got the door open…

camelbeard,

I think it was 17:18 when the door lock finally opened. The very first time estimate said it should be ready at 16:10. So it was definitely a big lie.

camelbeard,

Very good reply, just one thing to add, it’s both a washer and dryer, we did a full wash dry cycle.

I might move again. (Or not) (lemy.lol)

I moved from Lemmy.ml because I liked the name of Lemmy.world and it ran a newer Lemmy version which meant I could make communities. I moved from Lemmy.world because they defederated from piracy communities they didn’t even host (but for some reason still kept the small piracy community they DID host) From thelemmy.club...

camelbeard,

After seeing this post, I needed to check what server am I on right now anyway, didn’t even remember, so I guess that’s a good thing.

Thanks, I like your comment and I agree that I think people just aren’t evolved to have millions of fans/followers. If you look at people that got famous at a young age, most (maybe almost all) of them turned out into pretty unstable people. I’m taking about tv/movie stars here. Nowdays young people not only get famous, but also are bombarded with endless comments, lots of them very negative.

Even for young people that are not famous at all, when other kids around you always share things online where it looks like they have a much much “better” life, it messes you up. So many people just pretend to have a great life online, but never share all the bad stuff that also happens.

If you grow up with social media, you grow up with a complete fake version of reality. I kind of fear for the moment my kids will be old enough to want to join social media. As a parent you can’t really stop them and I also don’t want to be the super controlling parent anyway. It’s something that scares me because I know I will have to deal with it in a few years.

I kind of really dislike the notion that you only use Linux because you are too poor for Apple.

I don’t use Apple because I don’t like to be stuck in a walled garden where a company decides what’s best for me.

I know it’s just a meme, but I think too many people actually think Linux is somehow inferior to Apple (MacOS) while I think it’s the other way around.

camelbeard,

This is exactly why those people never become billionaires. You can’t make billions without screwing over people and the environment.

Do we really want to be bigger anyway? I kind of like where Linux as a desktop isn’t really big enough for all the scammers and malware makers to care.

(And I know it’s huge for servers and malware also targets that, but they are usually maintained by professionals, not your parents that would probably run every shell script they are offered as help)

If Linux would become the biggest desktop os you are going to find so much more bad advice whenever searching for help online. I wonder if the nice people we have now are really ready for when the terrible people invade the community.

camelbeard,

I don’t really think a country, where half of the population support a terrorist group, that recently performed one of the worst attacks on innocent people the world has seen in a long time, really has the right to claim any moral high ground.

camelbeard,

He just really wants people to know he’s the bischop of Arch

Yeah cloves and bay leaves are pretty common in old recipes. For example check out

…transparent.com/…/recipe-the-oldest-dish-in-the-…

That recipe should come out like this miljuschka.nl/…/Frietje-zuurvlees-Daphne-Dekkers.…

The exact perfect image, well done!

Edit now realize this is probably ai generated, still well done!

camelbeard, (edited )

I was obviously joking, as people on Reddit sometimes can be like that for now reason (maybe just to pretend to be smarter or something).

camelbeard, (edited )

Before Lemmy I was on Reddit for many years so I know exactly how to help.

Your hobbies suck and you don’t know shit 😉

I would say use Mint, I think nowadays that’s the better beginner distro. Actually it’s also kind of the pro-user distro. Fiddling around to tweak everything and get it just right is fun in your 20s, but when you need to work, have kids and a wife mint is fine 😛

camelbeard,

It also doesn’t help that Hamas doesn’t care about Palestinians either. For example when they shoot rockets and place the rocket launcher next to a hospital or school, they know it’s going to be hit by Israel at some point.

I get the reasons for both parties, but fighting isn’t going to resolve this, they have both tried for wat too long. Divide the country and get all the other nations to recognize both countries is the only thing that could work (I believe).

camelbeard,

I think most of the things you say are true, but small local farming isn’t going to solve world hunger. The bigger a farm gets the more efficient it can operate. The progress we made as a species boils down to how much more efficient we can do stuff.

camelbeard,

It helps the cheese develop more flavor

camelbeard,

Exactly this, our first computer came with msdos, if you didn’t wanted to type commands in a terminal, you couldn’t play games. If you didn’t wanted to learn how to setup your soundcard for every game, the game had no (or super crappy) sound.

It’s not about understanding tech at all. I work in a software development team and have a pretty deep understanding of how a lot of tech works. But I never owned an Apple device, so I can’t tell you basic shit about a how use iOS.

camelbeard,

Also it’s just an American thing, I’m in Europe but never really had anything pumpkin spice.

I have had pumpkin soup but apparently the spice doesn’t taste like pumpkin.

camelbeard,

Ukraine is a sovereign nation that got attacked by another country.

Palestine just carried out a horrible attack on Israel. Plus the history of Israel and Palestine is totally different. It’s just apples and oranges. I’m not claiming in any way Israel is right here, but Hamas is definitely scum of the Earth.
