caseyweederman,

Woah. I was really expecting the “will we ever use this in life”/“you won’t but some of the smarter kids might” strip, which is also SMBC.

caseyweederman,

You have my attention

Do they have a Linux client though?

caseyweederman,

you have forgotten the face of your father

caseyweederman,

Could you expand on that? What is it that makes that possible?

NixOS on OnePlus 6 with Extra Steps, or the Diary of my Descent into Madness (pavluk.org)

My biggest blog post yet, and it’s about running (almost) vanilla NixOS on a (formerly) Android phone! This was 50% fun and 50% exhausting… you solve one issue and another one crops up right away… it was certainly an interesting educational experience....

caseyweederman,

Your post is just a list of reasons I will never be able to dance

caseyweederman,

All the alcohol in the world wasn’t able to push me through that insurmountable mental block.
I’ve since quit drinking, and I’ve also quit trying to force myself to be a person who can dance. It’s just not in my bones.

caseyweederman,

It was kinda weird to hear him mocking his other character’s stutter. Sure, it’s himself, but on the other hand it’s an actor without a stutter mocking a character with a stutter so it didn’t really land all that well.

caseyweederman,

+1 for Darn Tough. I go through a lot of socks but my two pairs of Darn Tough socks are still going strong, despite one of them having a hole melted through it by?? a spark from a campfire?? I thought it would be the end for that one but it’s barely noticed.

caseyweederman,

Additional segment: “because you’re a huge annoying nerd who takes forever to develop an actual personality”
Ugh I hated having to push through his douchebag phase, even after that he was merely tolerable.

caseyweederman,

Huh, that’s interesting. For mine it’s 5e.

caseyweederman, (edited )

It’s the comic Opus the Penguin is from, if you’re familiar with him.

caseyweederman,

Never a better time now that the community owner is posting them in real time. I’ve got all the books but I’m still planning on following along in syndication pacing.

caseyweederman,

One of my favorite words is Diagetic. The music is part of the universe you’re observing.
I think this isn’t quite the same as that, since it’s music that is coming out of the universe, and intended to be representative of something inside, but it’s at least related.
Like the musical notation at the end of a Charles de Lint novel. Emergent diagesis.

caseyweederman,

Agreed re: Google.
I dunno what the solution is. The world without Google is going to be a very different place. Do you think it’s even possible for them to turn things around?

caseyweederman,

Yeah. Extremely unlikely and probably impossible.
It’s incredible how very much they have been able to fail but still continue operating.

caseyweederman,

Is there any logic to their gaps? Censorship, complaints, intern put the physical copy in the shredder instead of the scanner?
