const_void,

Be sure to enable the extra cover art plugins in Picard.

const_void,

I’ve tried it before but found it to be too cumbersome. I went back to just doing it all manually. Music isn’t pirated and organized in the same way TV and movies are.

const_void,

I find DarkReader to be pretty slow. You might want to look at Stylus. It works on a per site basis but it’s much faster.

const_void,

I’m worried about the HP firmware-bios thingy. Does it call home?

It’s for these kinds of reasons we should be demanding open source firmware from major vendors or only buying hardware from vendors that already have open source firmware (System 76, Tuxedo, etc).

Hey 👋 dear Linux Community,

I'm still kinda new to Linux (started using this year 😅) I already made it to my main OS, even if I still missing some things which I used on Windows, anyway. What I wanted to ask you guys, what recommendations do you have for Linux Mint (Cinnamon)? In terms of security, optimization, (a way to make the UI looking modern ;-;) and privacy? I would be very interested in what you do guys to optimize your Linux setup :) I'm pretty technical, so there is nothing which could overwhelm me (probaly).

Thx! 🤍

const_void,

We need a sticky for these questions. “recommend me a distro” posts are getting really old.

Looking to make the switch

Hi everyone, looking to make the switch from windows. I’m reasonably technically apt but not a programmer by any means. I’ve been doing some homework on which distro I would like to use and pop_os kinda feels like the right direction. I’m running an Nvidia 3060TI on a Ryzen 5600 chip set on an Asus tuf motherboard. Any...

const_void,

Another day another post about switching on /c/Linux. We need a separate community for all of these blog style posts.

const_void,

Coreboot would be nice, but it doesn’t seem feasible yet…

Why not?

const_void,

Yeah, that’s incorrect. System 76 is producing machines with modern CPUs that use coreboot:

system76.com/laptops/oryx

const_void,

How many AUR packages do you actually use? It’s mostly Electron “apps” anyway.

const_void,

Lenovo build quality has been shit lately. My IT dept is constantly returning Thinkpads for various issues.

const_void,

Yeah, I’m getting sick of these recommend-a-distro threads

const_void,

What Plasma 6 feature are you waiting for?

const_void,

What Plasma 6 feature has you most excited?

const_void,

Why buy Lenovo even there are a bunch of vendors making Linux-first laptops these days? When you buy Lenovo you’re supporting Microsoft and a bunch of other shady companies (firmware vendors, etc).

const_void,

You’re regularly using plasma 6? They just released the first beta and it’s full of bugs.

const_void,

This is how I feel after my company mandated working in the office 4 days a week.

const_void, (edited )

it originally comes from just “rice burners”

The term is often defined as offensive or racist stereotyping.

Yikes, I think I’ll just stick to “themeing”

const_void,

Why are you calling it a “stack”? Those apps are independent and aren’t even aware of each other.
