dangblingus,

And as a 1 year old with a brain that can’t form memories, she remembered that.

What happened to the PC games (or what happened to consoles)?

I got out of video game piracy for a while, but I’m coming back. One thing I have been absolutely SHOCKED by is how finding PC game torrents is actually kind of difficult from my normal sources. Now it’d be one thing if I just wasn’t seeing games, but for some reason Playstation and Switch have far more uploaders and...

dangblingus,

Because as we all know, bacteria stay put and do not travel to anything else, even if it touches the bacteria laden surface.

dangblingus,

It’s the direction of the commercial. The editing, the long drawn out eye contact, the lack of family likeness. The director shot it like a romance.

dangblingus,

This is definitely not normal sibling interactions. It is categorically creepy and the direction makes it seem like theyre romantic partners.

dangblingus,

Watch is more convenient, it’s also insanely insecure. Watch out for NFC scanners in public.

dangblingus, (edited )

Venezuela hasn’t been socialist for a while. I don’t see their workers owning the means of production.

dangblingus,

As opposed to using debit or credit, which is also owned and controlled by all of the major credit card companies.

dangblingus,

What is this comment? Who talks like this?

dangblingus,

Sounds inconvenient! I take it back. Secure yes. Convenient no.

dangblingus,

Ahh yes, floppy disks, where if you breathe on it, you just corrupted 1.44 megabytes of data.

dangblingus,

Psyop to make people think that electronic is superior.

dangblingus,

Barbers generally have to rent chairs in salons, so a massive chunk of the fee you pay them goes directly to the salon owner.

dangblingus, (edited )

The “fuck you pay your staff” sentiment is very valid, however, you shouldn’t reward a business that doesn’t pay their staff well with your money. The reality is, every single restaurant pays their staff a slave wage for the work they have to perform. Even chain restaurants work their employees like dogs. People who excel in the restaurant biz are hard working mfers.

dangblingus,

But that’s literally what the gratuity is for. Conscientious restaurants want to make sure their staff gets a little something something from a large party, auto grats are for that reason. If they expect a tip on top of that, something is wrong.

dangblingus,

I keep hearing this, but I’ve never encountered it. Still only given a tip screen on debit machines at regular sit down restaurants. Never once seen it in a fast food or retail environment.

dangblingus,

Okay, that’s insane. Part of the social contract we have in tipping culture is that your server is supposed to be a superstar. Crazy nightmare dinner rushes aside, no waters???

dangblingus,

Literally the last 5 or 6 of his specials he’s made “dunking on trans people” the meat of the runtime.

dangblingus,

She openly tweets about people pretending to be trans to get sympathies, she donates to anti-trans political groups, the only time she opens her mouth is to say some dumb ass shit about trans women not being women. How many examples do you require?

dangblingus,

He literally called himself a TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist) in one of his standups. It literally means he doesn’t think that Trans people should have equal rights as everyone else.

dangblingus, (edited )

He drank the kool aid and is now in full blown culture warrior mode.

Even if you think transphobic jokes are funny, he does them way too much and for too long and his comedy suffers for it.

He’s always been the king of terrible takes (how old is 15 really?), it’s just that he used to be skinny and have a higher pitched voice and yell the word “bitch” a lot, so he was sort of like a clown in a way. His stand up was always about race relations, and while the jokes were great back in the day, modern observations on current events mean you have to choose a side, and being an insanely rich gen xer, he chose conservative.

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

dangblingus,

Your argument that the Steam deck is emblematic of Gabe’s statement of piracy being a service issue, is somehow reinforced by telling us all of the artificial hoops you have to jump through to pirate on the Steam Deck? That’s just DRM with extra steps.

dangblingus,

Yeah, I too can make wildly lofty promises that probably won’t need to ever be verified.
