I work in tech and am constantly finding solutions to problems, often on other people’s tech blogs, that I think “I should write that down somewhere” and, well, I want to actually start doing that, but I don’t want to pay someone else to host it....
No, but I thought I clarified that when I said it’s basically wireguard VPN which operates using tcp/udp (layer 3.) layer 7 is stuff like https. CF tunnels are lower level.
Page you linked is missing the layer between CF and source server so it doesn’t indicate layer. You can lookup wireguard protocol if you want more details.
I’m also on Connect. Despite the fact that developer occasionally is a bit slow, I found nothing better. It was annoying to be locked out of my main server when they silently upgraded to 0.19 and Connect dev did not add support for it for several weeks.
Appimage for me ticks all the boxes for cross distro package as its very portable, simple to run, what are devs trying to do when creating snaps and flatpack?
My problem with appimage is that they never work. Every time I tried one, best case scenario it crashed with a random error message. All attempts to fix them were damn near impossible to debug.
It honestly felt like they were not universal enough and still relied on certain libraries being available on OS. Hopefully I’m wrong because that would completely defeat their purpose. I stopped wasting time on them after Plex and VLC both failed to run reliably and switched to flatpak that “just works” 100% of the time.
To be honest most of the time I look for an rpm anyway. Flatpaks are always a last resort. I’m on OpenSuse Tumbleweed.
Religion has never been about god. Religion is about control and unlike more intelligent mechanisms we created to assign positions of power, religion (by design) assigns power to the worst kind of scum.
So proof of non existence of god is not required to wonder why species calling itself intelligent still believes in vile shit that historically and factually demonstrated itself to cause nothing but grief, suffering and incessant delays to progress.
You’re describing religion as a theoretical concept, but unfortunately it is part of our reality with all the inconvenient facts you’re choosing to ignore.
It is able to survive because gullible or often evil parents and vile predators in the form priests, imams and rabbis continue to peddle various versions of this bullshit to unfortunate children thus sustaining the wicked concept. God has nothing to do with it since it has never presented itself to humans so saying organized religion cannot be sustained without God is nonsense at best.
Mine is people who separate words when they write. I’m Norwegian, and we can string together words indefinetly to make a new word. The never ending word may not make any sense, but it is gramatically correct...
I always found these types of questions a stretch to highlight complexity of the language. I can’t think of a single example you can’t answer clearly with a full sentence.
Sometimes I find myself shopping for things that I’d prefer to go out and get within the same day, but now I’d have to order and wait a few days to get…So I’m wondering what some of those things may be for you?
Printing in Linux has mostly been plug and play for years now. I just gave it the IP of my printer and it automagically set everything up. Scanning was a bit of a bitch.
CUPS is dated for sure, but most modern OSes (OpenSuse here) have wrappers around it to make the setup pretty straightforward.

Either you have a really bizarre definition of relaxation or you’ve never taken public transport in a busy city during peak hours.
Even in Los Angeles, where public transport is barely used, everything is packed at peak times. And that’s a place where people regularly take showers. I dare you to enjoy the relaxing experience of a bus at peak times in August in a third world country like Russia.
I agree, but some cities are just not compatible with public transport. Busses in LA fit 2 bicycles. How do you cover the final mile (which could be as far as 2.5 miles) in a city with mostly single family homes and lots of hills?
Impossible to compare Seoul to LA imho. Population density has its benefits like amazingly fast (fiber) internet connection, but accessibility of public transport isn’t one of them.

Why in the year 2024 and with all the knowledge humans have now do people still believe in religion?
What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?
I’ve been using Linux Mint since forever. I’ve never felt a reason to change. But I’m interested in what persuaded others to move.
