Whether there should be right wing comms is up to an instance’s admins, and whether other instances should federate with it is up to the admins of other instances.

As for freeze-peach absolutism, consider the paradox of tolerance.

The USian obsession with free speech comes from the over-application of a first amendment right. That freedom is in fact a restriction on the State to abridge speech, and not a restriction on Lemmy mods or admins.

Apple will now require a court order or search warrant to give push notification data to law enforcement in a shift from the previous practice of accepting a subpoena to hand over data.

Libs need to understand that calling out the hypocrisies of Trump supporters does fuck-all. Not only do they do not care, they get off on triggering the libs in this way. They’re not the least bit interested in facts or consistency; they’re interested in getting their guy in office.

Antisemites hardly need to hide behind anti-Zionism when there are plenty of antisemitic Zionists. It would be counter-productive if they did, because antisemites would love to see Jews removed from their country, and why not removed to Israel?

How to Use ChatGPT to Summarize an Article: ChatGPT tends to oversimplify things or even hallucinate sometimes, so fact-checking is essential.

Which means I’m discussing articles with people who read dumbed-down hallucinations of articles.

If have not assigned a “Display name” to my @davel@lemmy.ml account, and as expected—at least on lemmy.ml—it displays as “@davel”. However, on every other instance it displays as “davel [he/him] (@davel@lemmy.ml)” (on Hexbear.net it looks slightly different: “davel [he/him]@lemmy.ml”)....

I just set my Display name to “Davel”. We’ll see if this propagates. Then I’ll delete my Display name, and see if “Dave” is retained by other instances. Then I’ll know that this is unrelated to the Markup table.
