I would laugh if it wasn’t so bad that it makes you wanna cry. At least I’m lucky since this is the american perspective where all those services exist. Here in europe opening 90% of those streaming services webpages just says that the service is not available in my region. Some of them with new branding or different branding are not even available like max which is still hbo max here which changed recently enough.
I only know a few of the services names because I spent a few hours today before on wiki pages searching for legal tv apps and came across all the insanity. I only knew common names like hulu and roku which are things that don’t work here anyway. Ended up installing pluto tv again to experiment but then had to fight turning on vpn properly to counties where it actually is available. And all the countries have different channels and contents anyway.
It’s all insanity and horrible and sailing the high seas is honestly the only true no pain experience.
Stopped using netflix when they went after the accounts sharing. Only have hbo max and prime apps installed because my ISP bundled the subscriptions. But I never open them to watch anything anyway. Totally useless services.
The worst I did, a computer without turning it on and not being updated for 2 years. Long long ago. I think I even got a huge change, don’t remember if it was a big kernel version or the change to systemd. It basically just worked and there was a single thing I had to do that was in the news page.
New apartment I moved to only has these and I’ve been dreaming of having them for years. It’s amazing. Although it looks fragile and scary when the huge door/window is only fixed lightly on the bottom 😅
A big aspect is fractional scaling needs. I have tried the current kde 5 wayland version everytime a new minor release is done and it’s very bad with inconsistencies in many places and weird font rendering and stuff like that. I’m very eager waiting for kde 6 where many of the bugs are supposedly fixed.
I’m very excited for what’s to come. Good to know things are going well with the testing and bugs don’t seem too bad.
As features I’d like to see, I guess we still can’t configure different language layouts for different connected keyboards at the same time? I really would like to be able to have my usb connected one with english and the native laptop keyboard with portuguese. It’s annoying that I have to constantly switch when needed globally the layouts. At least multiple connected mouses seem to work fine.
What’s the accessibility story for blind users for example?
Is it going to be suitable to use with proper bindings with other languages or it’s not an interest at this time or are there plans to support things like that and stability of apis, etc?
