What things do you do while eating?

I have a terrible habit of watching Youtube while I eat, and then one video turns to ten and I’ve wasted the entire day. I’ve tried just not watching it while I eat, but JUST eating is so incredibly boring that I cave in and turn it on regardless. I can’t get any work done while eating either, since it takes me out of flow...

doubletwist,

I read books/ebooks.

Or I read the back of the cereal box, over and over and over…

doubletwist,

The vast majority of Israelies and Palestinians are good people just trying to live their lives.

The leadership of both are the bad guys.

Step 1: Eat a cookie Step 2: Drink Milk Step 3: Goto Step 1

doubletwist,

(green) because I’ve been using it as my terminal text color for 30+ years.

[Discussion] What is your Thanksgiving strategy?

Every Thanksgiving since I was a child, I’ve had to make something for Thanksgiving. Typically, and I think this goes for many Americans (and presumably Canadians cause they have a similar Thanksgiving), this involves sharing the kitchen with way too many cooks. It can be difficult to know what tools you’ll have in an...

It’s the same thrill as any other game or sport. Many enjoy the challenge of trying to do something difficult and get better at it, and then enjoy doing it competitively, and/or cooperatively with friends.

In the case of golf, you also get the added enjoyment of it being a generally slow paced activity, usually done on a beautiful day in a pretty area with lots of grass and trees.

doubletwist,

Heaven forbid someone enjoy something you don’t like.

Wells Fargo.

The short version is, they forced me to close my savings/checking account due to $32 in insufficient funds that was reported to Chex Systems by my former bank, and told me that I could reopen them once the report was cleared.

I got the report cleared with proof that it was due to a third party (AOL - who admitted it and got the report removed) that made unauthorized charges to an account I had closed.

When I went back to get my accounts reopened, the manager spoke me like I was the scum of the earth for ever having been reported, even though it wasn’t my fault and I had proof. She told me that I couldn’t open an account at Wells Fargo for 7 years, and said I could come back after that and open accounts.

As if I would ever go near Wells Fargo again after treating me like that over a $32 report that I had proven wasn’t my fault.

doubletwist,

While I could easily get more than $10mil with my current knowledge (assuming I go back in time to 6yrs old), I would not have the same wife or child as I do now, and there’s no way I’ll give them up, so I’ll just take the $10mil now .

doubletwist,

It’s USUALLY not the studies or scientists themselves that do that, it’s shitty ‘science’ reporting from media outlets.

doubletwist,

A rarity, but Maine Root has(had?) a drink called “Pink Drink”, a carbonated Prickly Pear Lemonade. I had it at the Austin City Limits festival. It was, without a doubt the most refreshing drink I’ve ever consumed. I usually drink mostly water (free) at the festival, but that year we spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $60-80 just on cups of Pink Drink because we couldn’t get enough of it.

I really, really, REALLY wish they sold bottles of it, but as far as I can tell, it’s only occasionally available and only as a fountain drink.

How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I remember when it was just Hulu for $5 and Netflix for $8. Saved $50 a month from cable. Now it seems we spend more. I have four. Max, Peacock, Paramount and Hulu. Prime doesn’t count because it sucks balls. (Only paying Netflix when next Stranger Things and Squid Game is released). Curious to see what the average...

Just cancelled Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+ and Hulu about an hour ago.

Still have Max (included in cell phone plan), Prime (mainly for shipping) and AppleTV+ because it’s cheap, and I’ve had a harder time f successfully getting many of their shows on the seven seas.

For music we’re stuck in a bit of a disagreement on what service to consolidate down to. I use YouTube Music because it includes add-free videos and because I was a long time user of Google Play Music (which was awesome). Wife likes Pandora Premium (Pandora has the best ‘stations’ with per-station thumbs-up/down), one kid has years of stuff on Napster(nee Rhapsody), and the other kid has all their stuff and friends playlists on Spotify.
