glimse,

I took a look and didn’t see domains mentioned until you go to the members login page. It’s not even on the sign up page.

So, uh, maybe go take a look at the link you’re posting. And also don’t write “pay for what you use” when someone is asking about buying a domain if you don’t want people to think you misunderstood the question

glimse,

Depends on if you live on a farm or not*

It’s not like European outdoor cats don’t murder wildlife and get killed

glimse,

Jake Johnson is really funny though

glimse,

It’s full of reply-baiting vent posts like “why would [company] do [something that favors profit over user experience]?”

I’ve seen only a handful of “good” questions

glimse,

Despite being about literal murder, this is significantly less horrifying than your Christmas series lol

Not an insult btw just an observation

glimse,

From personal experience, an Italian would say “wow this is delicious but I can only eat a slice or two”

Traditional Italian pizza is nothing like the food we call pizza now anyway

glimse,

Rick and Morty isn’t wholesome at all

glimse,

A PC being able to do literally anything doesn’t factor in at all imo. Most people buying consoles don’t want it to do anything but play games

glimse,

I’m guessing a PS5-tier PC is about 800-900 and the PlayStation subscription is $80/year so you’d break even at 5 years or so.

I have a more powerful PC and I haven’t owned any consoles since the Wii. I just wanted to see if you could build a comparable one for $450 nowadays

glimse,

I’ve seen 50x as many comments complaining about people liking Hamas than comments saying anything positive about Hamas

glimse,

You don’t like seeing the same 4chan screenshot 3 times back to back on All??

Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it

Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....

glimse,

Go for it! I’m not holding that against anyone. I’m railing against the entitlement of saying it’s “not respectful of the viewer’s time” to have sponsored segments.

Like I said elsewhere, I think that stance is ironic because it’s not respecting the creator’s time and effort. “I want you to spend hours and hours making videos for me but I don’t want you to make money from it”

glimse,

If the creators you like choose to monetize with sponsors, you can choose not to watch them instead of complaining about it on a forum. Or go create the content you like yourself.

I don’t like ads either and have stopped watching several channels because of how they use them.

“Every time the same argument” is right - “my time is valuable but the creator’s time is not!”

What are your criteria for upvoting/downvoting?

I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...

glimse,

conservative political get the downdoot.

That’s shitty imo. I’m on the left but there’s plenty of conservative politics that aren’t extreme or worthy of burying.

My old coworker was conservative and we had some amazing conversations about politics and culture even though we usually didn’t budge much on our positions. He was my favorite person to talk to about it because he brought in “the other side” that I wasn’t otherwise exposed to.

glimse,

Glad to see Band of Brothers mentioned. Not my favorite show in the world (not a big fan of war media) but damn was it good!

glimse,

I had to Google it to see if Let Me Google That For You still existed. I wish someone would have googled it for me…

glimse,

Yet… You attached a Facebook political meme…

glimse,

All the comments disappearing bugs me. You can be having a good exchange with someone then suddenly it’s all gone.

glimse,

Sublems is such a better word than community in my opinion. “Coms” doesn’t feel right as an abbreviation

glimse,

One of the ways of dealing with illusion magic is by disbelieving it, so a simply paranoid party could get advantage to dispelling illusions by saying they don’t believe what they they see, in theory.

Thank you, that explains a lot. I haven’t played DND yet and I definitely don’t know the history of it like that!
