I think it’s still important to explain the key difference between an “app store” and a package repository: the latter isn’t a “store” because everything is free.
As an American, going to any German-themed public event (read: Oktoberfest and uhh… that’s about it) convinces me that your greatest culinary achievement is sausage with mustard and sauerkraut. Not too shabby, TBH.

Despite snaps and Canonical’s BS, Ubuntu is the best distro for beginners because it “just works” in a way other distros do not. You are doing new users a disservice by telling them to avoid it.
(Note: I personally dislike Ubuntu. This isn’t about fanboyism; this is about giving credit where it’s due.)
To be fair, “do hummingbirds have feet” seems eminently wikipediable. I’d like to think that if I ever felt the need to drunk-dial an expert, it’d be for something less trivial.
A roux is fat (or oil or butter) and flour, not water and flour. You can add water-based liquids (water, stock, wine, etc.) to thin it out later, but the starches need to be coated in the lipids first.
If you try to do it the other way around (adding flour and water first and then fat afterward) the flour clumps up and you just get greasy dough balls.
#YouTube is making the watching experience worse on #Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
I didn't believe it the first time I heard abt it, since it sounded more like a conspiracy theory than a actual thing, but it's true. Google does add 5s timeout specifically to Firefox and Edge users when they try to watch a video on YT. If you want to know more about it, Mental Outlaw make a very good video abt it (Link: https://youtu.be/v4gXhmzQztE ). I think Google did this, to get people moving to Chrome since the majority will think this is a browser issue, nobody would expect YouTube to purposely doing this. In the attached Screenshot you can see that YouTube checks the user agent of browsers to see if it's Edge, Firefox or not. You can bypass this by changing your User agent to chrome.
Edit: Due a lot of people saying a lot of different things abt it, I want to say that I'm not 100% sure abt how exactly this works, there is a inbuild delay by Google, but who is actually affected, there are a lot of different opinions abt it. I wasn't able to verify this myself in LibreWolf, but this could be the case due my intensive hardening I did and this is just a result of what I found in the code and what Mental Outlaw and others shared across social media, if you got different or additional infos abt this feel free to comment and I suggest everyone ti also check the comment section.
I once heard that in the middle of 20th century, public transportation in the USA was widely privatized and bought by automotive manufacturers, and then wilfully left to rot, so that people would buy more cars....
If I understand correctly, the old streetcar companies weren’t “privatized” (i.e. government-owned assets that were sold off); they were for-profit companies to begin with.
Aside from that quibble, it was true, but then the “willfully left to rot” part kicked in and those transit subsidiaries went bankrupt and ceased to exist. Any rail transit that exists today is either a system that got saved from GM’s plot by being bought by the government (e.g. New York’s subway system), or a government-run system founded more recently (e.g. Washington DC’s subway system).
I read this immediately after posting a link to the Oracle scene in The Matrix in another thread. In that scene, the Oracle has “temet nosce” on a plaque above her door and points it out to Neo.
