What is the best way to host/upload gifs/mp4s/videos for Lemmy posts?

My major struggle with Lemmy right now is that it is near impossible to post a video/gif/mp4 without having another account on a hosting provider. Reddit handled this very well, and I am concerned that if there isn’t an easy solution on Lemmy, it won’t work for many people as an alternative to Reddit....

Mod here. The fun thing is that I actually did remove this post three hours ago when I posted that comment. Due to federation issues, people are still able to comment on it.

These are the rules for this community. If you’d prefer another, you may want to check out !asklemmy.

Help!!! Ptptn first class waiver, 4 months past the deadline.

I just realised I am eligible for Ptptn first class loan waiver but one of the requirements stated that the application must be submitted within 12 months from the convocation date. I got straight up rejected by the system. It is now 16 months from the convocation date. Damnnnnn, this waiver could mean so much to me....

I’d strongly suggest a Malaysian community for this kind of question.

It’s not something this group is likely to be able to help you out with.

Removing under rule #2 - this is political and the question is already slanted.

Images in Lemmy RSS Feeds?

I’m not getting images previews nor images themselves when I browse Lemmy using the RSS feed functionality. Other websites work fine, it just seems I’m having a problem with Lemmy. Instead, I just get a link and I can click that to be taken directly to the image on pictrs. It makes browsing Lemmy using an RSS client a...

This could be a Jerboa question, so see !jerboa. You might be looking for tips on mobile apps - please see our pinned post. Otherwise, I recommend checking the sidebar for suggestions on the best place to ask support questions.

Sim Farm on MS-DOS. I’m pretty sure it came on a 5 1/4 floppy disk.

I vaguely remember an Atari and Pong, but that’s so hazy that I can’t be too sure.

Is Lemmy planning on adding commands for maintenance tasks?

As my question reads I am curious if the Lemmy documentation gurus are putting together any recommended instance maintenance tasks. Also are the devs going to implement something similar to Mastodon which has the tootctl command and some various cache maintenance and cleanup capability. Thanks in advance. 😀

While this post is actually fine and within the community guidelines, we don’t have the bandwidth to moderate it properly - and it really needs moderation. For that reason, I’m going to lock rather than remove the thread. Thank you for the high quality post.

This isn’t really a question, so removing per rule #1.

With that said, helping people spread out onto different instances is good stuff so I think this is good info to leave up.

I’m going to remove this thread under rule #2. The topic is inherently political and some of the comments are getting rough.

Same. I didn’t create or mod any community on Reddit but I’m finding it a lot more satisfying to be involved.
