I’ve done something similiar in NR to scrape the CUPS webpage on my desktop and turn on a tasmota plug for the printer when it sees a job waiting in the queue. I wouldn’t even try to do that in HA directly. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s an integration somewhere that would do it.
We have our house and a cabin. While I guess I could make an area for the cabin, it has it’s own areas that I’d like to manage separately (and copy automations directly)....
If you’re using Voice Assistant, the recog and TTS are much faster and more fluent than what I’ve seen on my own system. I am running it as a VM on an old server, so hardware will matter, of course. Also, you can get remote access with Home Assistant Companion proxying your HA interface very seamlessly. There might be others, but this is what stands out to me.
I don’t see that there’s any sort of integration for writing code to process information from HA entities like Node Red + Companion. Am I missing something and this is more than just an interface for the config files and maybe a git client for those config files?
From outside? Set up a Cloudflare account and point the NS from your registrar to it.
From inside? Set up unbound on a docker host and don’t open it to the internet. Use that one when you’re local and the normal public DNS when you’re outside. But everything I’m seeing in here makes me sure you shouldn’t even consider opening ports in your firewall to expose inside host services. Use a VPN when you’re roaming, and only use your DNS for local servers/hosts via that VPN. The only use for your outside domain name should be to point a single hostname to your outside IP address so you can use it for your VPN endpoint.
Use DNS challenges for LetsEncrypt cert requests and remove host entries from your Cloudflare after you get your cert.

My bad, it must have been another one that I could make multiple profiles with, you are right, I don’t see that on my Insular install currently.
FLOSS is Free Libre Open Source Software. IMO, the only software you can rely on having any control over has to be opensource. Nothing else is worth investing time into, because it’ll eventually enshittify.
You could just add the plasma-full package or the more minimal group and log out, it’ll be a choice in the display manager login screen. I’d go with the Wayland session. If you can’t run Wayland because of GPU issues, you’re probably better off with Gnome.
+1 for Nobara. I never could stand the farting around it took to get Fedora to use codecs and non-free software, so I was a little off-put trying Nobara, but it’s been a pleasure to use. I still miss the AUR but not as much as the last time I left the Arch ecosystem. And it comes out of the box ready to game, with everything you are going to need to have the best experience you’ll find on Linux without having to beat your head against all weird things you have to do to configure properly.
And KDE is a first-class citizen instead of sitting on the backburner waiting for a chance. I liked that change in the last release even though it was working well enough despite being non-default.
Hi guys! I think I’m over Joplin. Don’t get me wrong, it’s simple, it works, but… why is it Postgres db…. I have the server on a small box with like 250 GB of space and backing it up with kopia to Backblaze with free 10 GB, so I’m a bit storage cautious....
I don’t know where you’re getting that from. Here is my Joplin folder on my NC server, stuffed with md files from my notes. There are some database driven references in them if you do things like add pictures, and obviously the filename is a UID format, but it’s markdown all the way, baby.
Take your time and don’t hang your hat on anything until you’ve run it for a while yourself before you subject your family to it, no matter how excited you are. You’ll just get people wary of trying your projects if it’s always failing, unless you have someone that knows how these things go and that you’re learning, and is willing to help you sort out bugs.
Zoho and PM have two entirely different reasons for existence. If you don’t want E2EE (assuming the other sender is on PM) then by all means, use Zoho. And IMAP isn’t E2EE compatible in the slightest, what they’re charging for is the decryption bridge that makes it work with an IMAP client. They had to come up with that, it’s not just a switch you flip at PMs end that makes IMAP work.
I’ve been searching for a browser based terminal gateway that I can use for sysadmin. I’d like to just have all my ssh connections in one spot and accessible as a web terminal in a network, like a bastion host. Anyone have any recommendations?

Follow the blogs for Year of the Voice initiative from Home Assistant. There will be lots of pointers for the journey they’ve taken this year getting TTS and STT working for HA.
Interesting concept, I like the design, but the workflow is rather odd and would take some getting used to. Also, things like the UI need some work on scrolling, like the Sudo connect window scrolling the password out of sight if you fail the password entry.
I donate about what I figure I’d spend on proprietary products in a year, about $600-800. Mostly KDE and docker containers I use like piped, mailcow, nextcloud, as well as podcasts I listen to as long as they supply an ad-free feed.
