Seeing my PR here made me feel good. 3 months and ~60 commits for only one lil field was too much 😅

It’s very nice and reassuring that all the commits are audited subtly though.

I’ve never used XMPP. Can someone compare it with Matrix?

I’ve used Matrix for months and agree with most points. I would like to try XMPP but it is clear that it does not have the best onboarding experience.

The problem I’ve observed with XMPP as an outsider is the lack of a standard. Each server or client has its own supported features and I’m not sure which one to choose.

Which client would you recommend?

Managed to set up an instance using Lemmy-Easy-Deploy but federation is being a bit weird

Is it always weird on new instances, I’m seeing posts from a random amount of days ago, no votes and no comments. Also, is it possible to federate with communities automatically or do I have to search for them all one at a time to add them to my instance?

It wasn’t but now it does I guess. I just searched a community didn’t existed locally on my instance and I got same result as you. No votes, no comments. I think this is enough to open an issue in the Lemmy repo.

You need to search them to make them available to your instance. You can also use lemmony or lemmy community seeder to automate it if you care enough.

As it says in descriptions. Go to reddit.com/subreddits, you will find “multireddit of your subscriptions” on top of right sidebar. Right click and copy it and paste to Voyager.

It is not automattic tho. You’ll need to manually subscribe communities.

Yeah probably all integrations are gonna break 😐

I hate them for injecting embedded ads to subs anyways, so hopefully they ruins the platform more so an alternative can emerge.

Ways to pirate music as convenient as Spotify?

The reason I gave up on MP3’s and subscribed to Spotify was because Spotify was easy. I’ve been listening “Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds” song every day and like a week ago, its removed. This was the last straw for me. Right now I’m trying to find “Stremio” of the music world. Can someone assist?...

Stop the service and inspect the machine for law violations. I’m ok to that. But proxying the network without a notice is literally spying.

Reverse the case, if a Chinese/Russian provider did this, would you still be OK? It’s funny US and west countries blaming easterns for spying while doing far far more.

Yes. I personally think the biggest instance should have at most a quarter of user base. They have a lot of authority in Lemmy now and can rule out other players very easily unfortunately.
