the last part is not true, apt installs things natively. Ubuntu software (the graphical app store) uses snap, however

I stand corrected. The apt packages on Ubuntu sometimes just install snaps under the hood. really strange move by Canonical

I’m sorry you’re having such a bad experience. It should be as simple as uninstalling in the Ubuntu store, and then reinstalling either using apt or flatpak. Is the uninstall not working?

You must unmount the drive before formatting. And also know that formatting wipes the drive, so if there is anything on there you want to keep, back it up beforehand

It’s not required, it’s really a matter of preference. Many users, me included, prefer having access to the newest features and bug fixes right away, but that also means less time to test the code for new bugs.

For another example, look at Debian vs. Arch Linux and how they are released

It’s a failed html escape sequence for &

some lemmy instances were having trouble with that for a while now. html used ampersand to encode special characters, and a regular ampersand gets encoded as &

Somehow, the decoding sometimes breaks, and we get to see it the way it is here
