jacktherippah,

Jay hasn’t responded yet. I’m still holding out hope. J2K is my favorite fork.

jacktherippah,

I couldn’t care less about the others. I have extremely strong opinions about TikTok though.

I have an issue with how SIM cards are handled in most countries

Almost all countries require official authentication to activate a SIM card. This seems to me as a huge privacy problem, if the country can track sim cards across cell towers and connect them to a person. It seems like a dystopian system, that we litterely can not hide from our governments without turning off our smartphones. It...

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the vast majority of people here don’t have such a threat model. Our threat model is mostly preventing corporations like Google and Facebook from accessing our data. If your threat model is so advanced that you need to prevent tracking via connection to a cell tower (i.e state actors targeting you), the only thing you can do short of putting your phone in a faraday cage/taking out the cellular radios/ not having a phone at all is to turn on airplane mode. This is because your phone still maintains a connection to a cell tower without a SIM card.

jacktherippah,

Cool but when is GNOME gonna do fractional scaling without half the apps I use going blurry?

jacktherippah,

There are even videos of big ass cats (maybe panthers/lions idk) on YouTube meowing and purring so uhhh maybe?

jacktherippah,

I had the same thing happen to me but I was luckier. When I was 15-16, my parents had a big ass glass shower door sitting around so they asked me and my cousin to bring it downstairs so we could sell it. As we were trying to move it so we could pick it up, the thing exploded into a million shards flying everywhere on the floor. My cousin and I were basically unharmed but the floor was littered with tiny tiny glass shards that was a pain in the ass to clean up.

OP you are absolutely histerical! I’m laughing my ass off!

Rewatching HIMYM and this song is now stuck in my head again
Simple Song - The Shins

jacktherippah,

That’s just the iOS interface with outdated ugly Android UI elements =)

jacktherippah,

Nah OP, she’s just eating really good hummus.

jacktherippah,

Suggestions aren’t a thing in Florisboard yet. Still a WIP.

jacktherippah, (edited )

I recommend sticking to GOS. If you’d like to use something else, I’d recommend DivestOS. CalyxOS, LineageOS, /e/OS and iodéOS are all significant downgrades in usability, privacy and security and therefore not worth using on a Pixel.

jacktherippah,

It’s kinda sad how we treat cancer today by literally injecting poison into our veins. I hope some day it will be like the flu. Couple pills, couple days of recovery, boom! No more cancer.

jacktherippah,

I wear Mi Bands with Gadgetbridge but when this thing dies I might switch back to a Casio F91W.

Privacy benefits of Custom roms

So recently my moto G60 reached the end of life with respect to security updates. That was the reason I was using to prevent myself from switching to a custom rom(actual reason is laziness). This phone has rom support for pixel experience and lineage OS. So my questions are if pixel experience has any privacy advantages when...

jacktherippah, (edited )

Pixel Experience has zero advantage for your privacy. LineageOS really doesn’t do much to protect your privacy (or security). That’s hardly surprising since privacy&security was never the goal of LineageOS to begin with. The only things Lineage will do for your privacy is 1. Remove Google Play Services 2. Remove your OEM’s built in tracking. Installing Google Play Services will negate 1. If you are serious about your privacy and is willing to make sacrifices, your best option would be GrapheneOS, followed by DivestOS. The latter supports many of the devices supported by LineageOS, so check if your device has support.

jacktherippah,

Lmfao I was reading the parent comment thinking “hey thats actually pretty decent” and then you hit me with this. Instant “oh…”

Why do most people refuse to accept that they are wrong

I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Is it so hard to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the other person is speaking facts? When they come to know they are wrong they proceed to insult/make fun of...

jacktherippah,

We’re not wrong OP, you’re wrong!!! Right, guys?

Is there a word for a third/fourth wheel friend? You know, the one that always walks behind, the one that sits next to their two or four best friends in class, but just far enough so that the conversation either doesn’t concern them, or they don’t hear enough to contribute to it. Is that even common? Or is it just me?

jacktherippah, (edited )

As a fellow Vietnamese, I would like to recommend a used Pixel. 6th gen Pixels are pretty cheap right now. Last I checked a used 6 Pro used was around 7m VND. They have flagship hardware and 3 years of updates left. And they’re open to custom ROMs unlike Samsung or Xiaomi. Honestly can’t beat them for the price.

jacktherippah,

That’s more than half of the Indian population. Catastrophic if true.

"Unless the house is on fire or you are hurt, do not interrupt me on the phone!"

Hi everyone, this is a small but hopefully enjoyable bit of MC from my childhood. Way back when, my Dad worked in IT and worked from home. This is back in the early days of telecommuting and so most of his day was spent on calls in between actual technical stuff. The internet was in its infancy, so if he was working he really...
