kautau,

Thanks for sharing. That’s really interesting. Also, what a way to absolutely do great on your first day. Realize there’s a massive aerospace emergency, ground all flights without approval, because approval could mean the cost of more lives. Dude deserves some praise for what he did.

lol what a shitty and thinly veiled religious law.

  1. god gave us this land, nobody else got their land from god
  2. our traditional language that our religious texts are written in is the most important and official language
  3. we should spread and settle outside of internationally agreed boundaries because we are god’s chosen people
kautau,

True, but he’s a CEO, not a scientist. OpenAI’s head scientist, Ilya was part of the reason behind him being ousted, and he has spoken about the importance of AI ethics in the past.

ecorner.stanford.edu/…/ethical-ai-regulation/

Sam will just go run another company somewhere

kautau,

I highly doubt it. They are one of the largest investors in OpenAI. If the board ousted him for ethical reasons and they hire him, they could very easily destroy their relationship with OpenAI, and they want to stay ahead to make sure they can capitalize on AI money

kautau,

Welp I was wrong. That’s not good for AI ethics

kautau,

Agreed. I will say the companion activities like golf or tennis were fun in GTA V, but the basic immersion stuff of like needing to eat, sleep, take care of my horse, etc, while silly or tedious to some, really kept me engaged in RDR2. They even had a basic hunger system in San Andreas. I’m hoping for something like that. And on the topic of horses, they really need the car insurance system from multiplayer to be integrated. It’s frustrating to customize a rare vehicle and have it disappear because you decided to start a mission.

kautau,

Game costs $150? I know where Tim Curry is escaping to. The one place that hasn’t been corrupted by capitalism

kautau,

It’s my opinion that people are good and honest when they aren’t cynical about something. Like here’s it’s just a kid’s bike, but the person in me who has seen far too much of the internet know this probably would have gone a different way if it was just some commuter’s street bike instead.

kautau,

I mean someone else already posted a more cynical comment

lemmy.world/comment/5371819

My guess is someone would assume a post like that was just made by an entitled biker or something had it been a commuter bike, and it would get much more hate than it has, deemed untrustworthy, “did it for the clicks” etc

kautau,

Let your dreams take flight and you’ll land a good pun eventually

kautau,

You’re correct

In 2004, the Naval Research Laboratory released the code for Tor under a free license

kautau,

Yeah there’s an elisp file for that somewhere

kautau, (edited )

And you’ll finally get your sound working on your new laptop after weeks of messing with pulse audio and realizing you just needed to install sof-firmware but didn’t scroll far enough in the wiki to see that, but now your pulse audio config is so messed up it’s just easier to reinstall Arch again

kautau,

When the weather is bad they can’t take the helicopter so they have to walk out the door of their penthouse to get to their chauffeur’s car

kautau,

The systemd-bsod will also display a QR code for getting more information on the error causing the boot failure.

That’s pretty neat. Nowadays with the proliferation of smartphones that’s an easy way to move straight to troubleshooting the issue

kautau,

Yeah things like selinux and apparmor have been around for a long time, sandboxing is just an evolution of that

kautau,

My guess is it’s the cholula, or Taco Bell, or ordering deep fried chimichangas, or other Tex-Mex, most freshly made authentic mexican food is simple ingredients that should definitely not cause someone to have the shits

kautau,

It wouldn’t surprise me. Japan does rice and beef very well. But tomatoes and lettuce are far less common in Asia. I’m actually traveling to Japan early next year at some point. Will try Taco Bell and report back

kautau,

It’s a webp file what are you on about

kautau,

Nah, it was a live broadcast service. It wasn’t a common website, or a file hosting service. It was a local paid IPTV network advertised through word of mouth. Probably sold hacked amazon fire sticks that connected to an IP that was decrypting live tv signals.

Basically: buy a cable tv subscription. Decrypt all the “channels” into IPTV steams. Sell access (probably with pre-configured hardware) to the streams for an amount cheaper than it would be to subscribe to the cable tv service yourself.

kautau,

Lol and I am very white and very much dislike anything pumpkin flavored so I’m the opposite. Though salted and roasted pumpkin seeds are an amazing snack

kautau,

www.allsides.com does this too. It’s not perfect, but it does a decent job at showing multiple articles about the same current event and tagging them based on how left or right leaning the article is and then describing the difference in coverage from each side
