But hey, at least everyone supports webp now. (lemmy.world)

Context: Even though Chromium has native support for AVIF, a very nice image format, Microsoft goes out of their way to remove it from Edge, which is a chromium fork. Jpeg XL (JXL) (not to be confused with Jpeg (JPG) or Jpeg 2000 (jpg2k) ) is another nice image format, which, IIRC, is only supported in Firefox.

lud,

Safari got full support in march 2023

The newest version of edge which is currently in beta also supports it

Safari is the only browser that supports Jpeg XL. Firefox does support it if you enable a flag but IIRC from bugzilla their implementation is currently not great.

If a browser feature needs to be enabled with a flag it’s not really supported since an extremely tiny portion of users will be able to use it, and it’s often buggy.

All major browsers (98% of all users) have supported APNG since at least 2020

Firefox: 2008.
Safari: 2014.
Chrome: 2017.
Edge: 2020.

I believe the photo app in Win 10 (and maybe 11) still doesn’t support it but that shouldn’t hinder web devs.

lud,

edit: or point me to one that’s already up

Here you go: !piracy :)

lud,

Multilating childrens genitals for appearance is pretty fucked up.

That choice should be left to themselves and no one else. Unless absolutely necessary of course.

The supposed benefits are very very small and the majority of the world is doing absolutely fine without removing the foreskin of children.

lud,

Since when is noise-canceling headphones protective gear, lol?!

lud,

Then they aren’t headphones, they are earmuffs with noise cancellation. The insulation in the earmuffs is doing the real work. Noise cancellation by itself isn’t going to protect your ears much at all, if anything.

lud, (edited )

Should still not be called headphones when their primary function is hearing protection.

Does AI-generated art posted on lemmy bother you?

I find that i can spot AI Images fairly easily these days, especially the sort of fantastical tableaus that get posted to the various AI communities around lemmy. I’m tired of seeing them; it all looks the same to me. Was wondering if im being too sensitive, or if other people are similarly bored of the constant unimaginative...

lud,

Nah I think it can be cool and sometimes funny.

lud,

unpersonalized ads are much better for privacy and are less effective at selling stuff which is better for the user.

lud,

Can’t you turn them off? I thought that was the only option if you didn’t reach a thousand subs or something

lud, (edited )

I guess you just have to swear a lot or something.

Or accept that the ads are paying for the service that you use.

lud,

That sub and this community has always been like that.

lud,

Apparently they do still sell them or rather a newer revision.

www.harmankardon.com/…/HKSOUNDSTICK4WHTAM.html

While I think the original design is pretty ugly It’s still kinda cool. The fourth revision is just very ugly.

Maybe they look better in person ¯_(ツ)_/¯

lud,

That’s what is mainstream popular. How do you find stuff you actually like ?

Is it impossible to like mainstream stuff?

lud,

Well letting other people choose for you is not really discovery. When too many people abdicate this responsibility, art becone whatever profitable mush advertisers shovel in our face.

Critics and mainsteam media has existed for as long as media has. They don’t choose for you. They just help judge whenever a movie might be worth watching.

It’s not like I watch a movie just beaucse it’s mainstream. I watch some mainstream movies because they specifically are good.

And isn’t really the most highly rated and well liked movies in existance mainstream by definition?

lud,

He does still own the trademark though.

lud,

Maybe, just maybe, historians aren’t a hivemind with the same opinions.

lud,

What are the odds that OP is emailing from an email that’s not configured correctly? Very low.

lud,

Not really since Microsoft, Yahoo (I guess), and Google dominate the email space really hard.

lud,

Why would OP contact OPPO using a corporate email?

It’s extremely likely that they don’t have their own domain since it’s very uncommon for personal usage. Some absolutely do but they are in the minority.

Of course custom emails need to be set up properly, otherwise all mails would just go to spam.

lud,

I have a feeling the vote thing will be abused.

lud,

Have you tried the proxmox exporter? I have tried it briefly for a grafana lab and it seemed pretty good.

github.com/…/prometheus-pve-exporter

lud,

You can use grafana to visualise the data.

Grafana isn’t too hard to use.

lud,

If you want to run the exporter without docker (like I did) and you get problems with installing the exporter try using this guide: github.com/…/PVE-Exporter-on-Proxmox-VE-Node-in-a…
