marcos,

Yep, that hole on the head is perfectly representative.

marcos,

Hum… Ok.

Why does systemd have a directory of active scripts if it needs to activate the scripts on its internal configuration too?

marcos,

I don’t have solutions, but I have a pressing question: why?

I’m not sure OpenOffice is even supposed to work nowadays.

(Anyway, maybe try running from a terminal. Usually programs log the errors into it.)

What do you guys do when you want to run unmaintained programs? (lemmy.world)

I recently wanted to run tegaki, and my experience is pretty much summed up by the meme. I consider myself fairly tech-savvy, but I just couldn’t figure out how to compile it. So I just gave up, downloaded the .exe and put it into a fresh wine prefix. After installing CJK fonts, everything ran fine. Now I’m trying to get...

marcos,

Yep, if you manage to make it run on them, you are set forever.

marcos,

You have probably already seen this:

xkcd.com/705/

Anyway, people are mostly not like that anymore.

marcos,

As long as the same text continues relevant…

marcos,

You meant if the 3D GCI where only the voice and movements of the people are used is cheaper than the 3D CGI where the people’s appearance is used too?

I have no idea, but the difference can’t be very big.

marcos,

People keep insisting Starbucks drinks have coffee on them… Here in Brazil we’d get the same amount of caffeine in a, well, we call it a coffee cup, it has something around 80ml (2oz), and good luck finding any image of it on the English-speaking internet.

marcos,

Looks like it is.

marcos,

It wasn’t all that useful.

Instead of the battery dying and you throwing your phone away, it just happened that the battery died, and you searched for a compatible one, that either didn’t exist or cost 70% of the price of a new phone, so you threw your phone away.

Now, if you want to talk about standard battery sizes, I’m listening.

marcos,

The Perl version of it is even greater!

marcos,

As long as their salary keeps increasing, I’d say go for it!

marcos,

There are so many great ideas on the new trilogy that are just thew there on the movies and never expanded into a coherent story…

It seriously implies it would spark joy.

marcos, (edited )

It will very gladly show you all the resources are being consumed by some service you don’t need, can’t uninstall or disable, and will just consume more resources by restarting if you terminate the process.

marcos,

I’m pretty sure the comic was supposed to be a joke about Die Hard.

marcos,

Last time I got a scare like that, it was the monitoring agent that had some code with a performance that depended o the number it measured.

marcos,

That person isn’t welcome on the beach house.

marcos,

Well, it is a planet everyone overlooks.

marcos,

I’m passionate about quite a lot of things.

A day job isn’t one of those, but it’s not a single-use line.

marcos,

Here in Brazil we have a bird that will attack anything that comes close to its nest. (That they make in low grass.)

Airports have constant swipes looking for them.

marcos,

Nah, Bashir would devise a clever plan to everything work out just fine without people returning their carts.

Also, I’m pretty sure you got Garak wrong. He would promise never to return the cart, make a loud point about it for everybody, and insist on the subject every chance he gets. Just to covertly return it when nobody is looking because when Cardassia befriends the supermarket his people would benefit from the carts being correctly parked.

marcos,

Is the second to last an animated version of Strange New Worlds?

marcos,

Yeah, I know. The force a gorilla can make is minuscule compared to what those doors withstand normally.

It’s only a joke.
