Why are these new years memes always accompanied by a picture of either Cillian Murphy or Ryan Gosling?

The system is just a representation of the aggregate.

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

All of your own experiences are at the very least valid as you experienced them.

Scientific rigor states otherwise. You must be able to prove or repeat your experiences for them to be accounted as valid within the context of experimentation.

‘Doing your own research’ isn’t the silver bullet you may think that it is. Most laypeople don’t know what effective research actually looks like; let alone understand how to actually do it or the covariates that may truly be impacting their observations or research. Further still, some may not even care to know as they may already have established biases. More often than not, it simply leads to further conspiratorial thinking.

This is a cute idea for a movie and all but it’s incredibly impractical/unsustainable. If a system required that it’s energy storage be self-replicating (for whatever reason) then you would design and fabricate that energy storage solution for that system. Not be reliant on a calorically inefficiently produced sub-system (i.e. humans).

You literally need to grow an entire human just to store energy in it. Realistically, you’re looking at overfeeding a population with as much calorically dense, yet minimally energy intensive foodstuffs just to store energy in a material that’s less performant than paraffin wax (body fat has an energy density of about 39 MJ/kg versus paraffin wax at about 42 MJ/kg). That’s not to speak of the inefficiencies of the mixture of the storage medium (human muscle is about 5 times less energy dense than fat).

Bobby Fingers. Drunk Mel Gibson has quickly become a classic amongst my friends.

youtube.com/

Probably one of the most creative and talented makers I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. Every single thing he’s done has been fucking hilarious to boot.

This is hilarious to read, my guy.

Listen, you said what you said. Own up to it and learn, or don’t and move on. But you really don’t have to sit there and dig yourself even more into the shit. You sound silly.

there is no time period which teenagers are more able to fall asleep

This is unequivocally false. That’s literally a part of the circadian cycle. We can more easily fall asleep at particular spans of our 24 hour cycle. These spans shift depending on our age.

Specifically concerning sleep patterns in adolescents and teenagers, see here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19546564/

The point is that we now know this to be true. Rather than try to shoehorn our biological needs in whatever spare pockets of time we can scrounge, we should focus on better adapting our society and it’s systems to our needs at all stages of life.

Your bootstraps mentality is counterproductive.

Words can have different colloquial and regional meanings. That’s literally a feature of language.

Hey man, it’s either this or I go back to the booze. Unfortunately both ate pretty fatal for my maladaptive ass.

I basically do the same. I buy a majority of albums as records from my favorite bands or just bands I want to support.

✨ which is why I don’t think this meme is good ✨

Things can still have meaning to you locally, and you can comprehend that ‘meaning’ at larger scales is reduced.

This person sounds like they’re having a frantic existential panic attack.

Lol at all of these comments coming up with ways to not pay someone $1 for a sudoku app.

That’s not humor, that’s just very sad collective sycophancy.
