It provides pretty good translations, but it’s not particularly good for privacy. Obviously it’s better than Google, but their privacy policy isn’t great.

netchami, to piracy in What VPN do you use and why?

I run 2 nodes at my house, several nodes (including exit nodes) on different VPS providers and I use the Snowflake addon in all of my browsers. But Tor is meant for people who require anonymity and the ability to circumvent censorship, not for those who don’t want to pay for a VPN.

Check this out: www.privacyguides.org/en/vpn/. It will help you make a good decision. Also, my personal recommendation: AirVPN.

Am I screwing up?

Yes.

Mullvad is great. Also check out IVPN, they are kinda similar to Mullvad (they also allow for anonymous registration without an Email address and they accept anonymous Monero payments). Maybe take a look at AirVPN if you need port forwarding.

Check out AirVPN if you want port forwarding.

netchami, to piracy in Youtube’s Anti-adblock and uBlock Origin

You can create an account on a Piped instance and use it to sync your subscriptions and playlists. You can also log into your account when using LibreTube on Android. Invidious also allows for account creation, but I’m not aware of any mobile apps allowing to connect to it.

Same, but I’m using Piped

As well as their founder.

netchami, to piracy in PSA: Don't torrent over TOR

I’d err on the side of caution. I always use a VPN for privacy reasons, my ISP doesn’t need to know what websites I’m visiting and which P2P protocols I use. Also, there’s no need to expose my approximate geographical location to every service I connect to.

netchami, to linux in [Question] Which shell prompt do you use and why?

I’ve been using zsh for some time, but I finally switched to fish. I also checked out Nushell, it lacks some features, but it’s really interesting. On zsh I was using Powerlevel10k, on Fish I used oh-my-fish with the shellder theme before I switched to Starship. I’m very happy with this setup. My prompt looks like this: https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/9e0ef0c1-d121-44c1-be99-4d03b19af6bb.webp

My Terminal Emulator of choice is kitty, the font is Monocraft.

netchami, to privacyguides in What is your favorite cybersecurity tool and why?

Have fun! Don’t hesitate to ask me via DM if you have a question or encounter any problems as I’d say I’m quite experienced with all the tools I listed.

netchami, to piracy in Invidious vs Piped. Which is better?

Piped is better for privacy because it proxies everything through the Piped server, with Invidious you still leak your IP to Google. I also prefer the UI of the Piped web client.

For iOS, you can check out Privacy Redirect
