Yes to what?

null, to asklemmy in Are there any free sites that can check other sites for trackers?

See my first thought was torrent trackers.

null, to linuxmemes in If linux distributions were tools.

It’s not that it’s bad on a server, it’s just that something like Debian with a couple tools on top gets you to the same place with less resources.

For a home server, that reduction in overhead can mean squeezing out a few more services on a single box.

NixOS is just a hardware store

It’s weird that you’re being this defensive about it.

The other commenter wasn’t chastising you for posting the article, they were commenting on the article and the author of it. Nothing to do with you.

It has 1 downvote…

Every post that gets even a little traction is going to get some downvotes because people like to troll.

But this could even just be a misclick - I’ve done that before.

It’s really not worth worrying about.

And even then the blurb didn’t contradict what I said at all. They’re clearly just desperate for a “gotcha”.

Lots of “what”, zero “how”.

Sites for what? Trackers for what?

null, to piracy in Ways to pirate music as convenient as Spotify?

Now this is what I’ve been looking for!

I like to DJ sometimes and I typically just create playlists for sets I want to do and listen to them over and over to get familiar / play around with the order / discover new tracks that fit by letting Spotify make suggestions.

It’s a pain to then have to go find all those tracks manually, so this sounds perfect for my usecase.

null, (edited ) to linux in Good Nix OS series: five articles for new users.

My usecase is that I want to build a rock-solid workstation laptop for my non-tech-savvy family member.

I configure all the basics in .nix files, and then from there, they can install Flatpak from the software center, like they are used to doing.

Then I can just do a rebuild switch when I see them, make sure it’s all working, and then trust that they probably won’t break the system in-between.

Edit: to be clear, in my own config, if it’s not reproducible, I’m actively working to fix that.

null, to opensource in Unexpected-Keyboard: A lightweight Android keyboard.

Enabled the traffic log, used SwiftKey in a few different apps, got traffic from those apps, but nothing from SwiftKey. What am I missing?

null, to opensource in Unexpected-Keyboard: A lightweight Android keyboard.

An app being able to subvert system-level permissions would be pretty huge news.

I downloaded that app along with SwiftKey and disabled network access for it. Here’s what I get: https://slrpnk.net/pictrs/image/32b10804-61db-4724-98e1-647e77bf17e1.webp

Where am I supposed to see it being able to access the internet?

null, to selfhosted in First Nas Build

Well said.

The spirit of Self-Hosting is trying things and then asking specific questions when you get stuck (stuck includes having no luck using a search engine).

See my above comment.

Also all of that is irrelevant to the (false) claim that “cats get sick from eating meat without synthetic taurine”.
