otter, to asklemmy in People who have made and successfully kept their New Year's resolution, what was it and how did you stay motivated?

People have lots of great tips for why resolutions fail and how to do them better

I heard another similar spin: pick a few areas of your life and have them be better than they are at the start of the year

Like say education or relationships with people, the goal is some kind of improvement by the end. You can go as big or as small within those afterwards.

otter, to asklemmy in If you could only listen to someone talk about one topic for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why?

Any particular areas of medicine?

Also I haven’t been promoting the communities well enough but we’ve got some on Lemmy that could use more activity. I was planning to get them going more in the new year

otter, to asklemmy in What are your best flight tips and tricks?

Interesting, haven’t heard that before but I’ll keep it in mind :) thanks!

Great thing for everyone to keep in mind :)

Fleming did not provide Bond’s date of birth, but John Pearson’s fictional biography of Bond, James Bond: The Authorized Biography of 007, gives Bond a birth date on 11 November 1920,[13] while a study by John Griswold puts the date at 11 November 1921

Huh, learned something too!

otter, to asklemmy in best app for lemmy?

I used sync on Reddit ages ago before switching to Boost. Both are pretty decent, but I prefer Boost here as well

otter, (edited ) to privacy in What the actual fuck?!

Sounds like a really spammy and annoying way to promote an app. I assume someone else who has your phone number signed up on their app and gave access to all their contacts. Then the app sends out spam texts to get you to sign up.

Depending on where you are located, you might be able to report it. Otherwise just drop them a bad review, or name and shame them here

edit, I assume it’s this: slickapp.co

otter, (edited ) to comicstrips in Remember to have fun at work

Maybe not during the surgery, but it’s pretty normal to do some review before a surgery that hasn’t been done recently.

In the past they’d skim the books, but videos provide additional insight nowadays. A lot of those videos are published on YouTube

So it feels weird, but it’s not. You’re (most likely) in great hands

otter, to privacyguides in Is Proton Unlimited Worth renewing?

I’m not your target for the question, since I haven’t ever tried Unlimited

Bitwarden is very solid for a password manager, and it works well for my family

You could compare prices between just ProtonMail+Bitwarden (or other manager)+VPN of choice?

See the pinned post in !communityPromo for some tips on finding communities. If there isn’t one that fits, this is probably the best instance for you to make that community
