otter,

I loved the 3D platformers from back then, including the ones based on whatever movie was out at the time

otter,

Oh that’s nice! Hopefully more apps integrate that function

otter,

I enjoy a lot of communities on lemmy.world, but I’d recommend against moving a community into it. Centralizing more communities there doesn’t feel productive, and I don’t think it would help with user numbers.

If you do want to move, slrpnk is cool and I think this community could succeed there. Personally, I think the best solution would be to promote this community around the Fediverse regardless of if you stay on this instance or move to another one. Places like !communityPromo and the other ones listed here: lemmy.ca/post/5581032.

Thanks for thinking about these things and for working on the community!

otter,

Oh a moth makes sense! I hadn’t thought of that

otter,

Which generation leaves them open/closed?

I haven’t noticed a pattern, but I also haven’t really explored

otter,

When I start up, I right click on a folder and “open all in new tabs”

Then shift click to pin them again. Makes it easier to restart when I need to

otter,

Something I’m also curious about (because of monopolies, we have the most expensive data in the world in Canada), how much does mobile data cost where you are? How much have you spent in total based on your usage?

I assume people have different habits in different parts of the world based on data prices

otter, (edited )

I think it’s from here :)

forbes.com/…/whatsapp-beaten-by-apples-new-imessa…

Also it does leave out some info, I edited my comment up top

otter,

I’m not familiar with how I’d set that up. I usually find an existing RSS feed and follow it

edit: haven’t used Google Alerts in a while. Looks like you can have it send an email without tying it to your account. That should work fine

Just made this post with the different link options, I think the third one might work for you. Could you try them and share which ones work?

lemmy.ca/post/9712488

Quoted below:

There are a lot of different apps / frontends that can show stuff from Lemmy, and they vary in how well they support different link formats. Here is a short explainer:

Each entry below shows you what you should type (like this) and what you will see as a result (after the dash ‘-’).

For each entry, some apps will support it and others will not. It can be helpful to include a few different link formats so that everyone can use the link easily.

NOTE: There is a bug on the Lemmy website right now. If you start typing a community or username, it will try to autocomplete it. DO NOT click that autocomplete, or it will mess up the link.

!newToLemmy@lemmy.ca - !newToLemmy

  • This is the universal format. If you click this link, the community will open in your home instance.
  • This is the recommended method.
  • If you are coming from Reddit, it is similar to how you could type /r/askReddit

[you can put whatever here](/c/newToLemmy@lemmy.ca) - you can put whatever here

  • This is another way to make a universal link. If you click this link, the community will open in your home instance.
  • This works well if you can’t use the method above. For example, if you want to stick a link in a shields.io badge, you can use this technique to still include a universal link.

lemmy.ca/c/newToLemmy - lemmy.ca/c/newToLemmy

  • This is a hardcoded link. If you click this link, the community will open on a specific instance. Anyone using a different instance (ex. anything except lemmy.ca in this case) will not be able to subscribe right away, and they will need to redirect it first.
  • Sometimes you can’t use the methods above. For example, if you want to create a nice thumbnail while promoting your community on !communityPromo, you will need to use this URL.
  • If you use this method, try to use the other methods as well so people have options.
otter,

Could it be a buggy controller or remote?

otter,

Oh woah that’s cool

I was picturing something like this at first

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Glove

otter,

I remember seeing something like that for posture, could repurpose it

otter,

Well, it meets the requirements so here you are :)

Also I think this one wins, since it can become any of the other ones

otter,

With locally processed data

otter,

What are some features you like from Vivaldi?

otter,

Could you add this to the sidebar?

!moviesandtv

It’s the new community for that kind of stuff after lemmy.film got shut down

otter,

Looks great!

otter,

I’m not sure I understand

If everyone can see what I upvote, then I’m going to take that into consideration before voting. If it was private, then I wouldn’t worry about it and vote whenever I want to.

Overall this might be a good thing because it exposes bad behaviour, such as downvoting the person who disagrees with you.

This might be a problem if, for example, there’s a post critical of moderators / admins. You might want to upvote it, but worry about getting banned. If your Lemmy profile can be linked to your real identity, you might worry about real world consequences too.

otter,

One of my favourites, especially because of that last panel
