otter,

See the pinned post in !communityPromo for some tips on finding communities. If there isn’t one that fits, this is probably the best instance for you to make that community

otter,

What are some good alternatives to each Adobe product?

Someone on here mentioned Affinity for the Photoshop/design world

Nitro & PDFxchange for the PDF side?

otter,

Something I’m also curious about (because of monopolies, we have the most expensive data in the world in Canada), how much does mobile data cost where you are? How much have you spent in total based on your usage?

I assume people have different habits in different parts of the world based on data prices

I have a few friends and family on Signal. Pretty much everyone uses other services too (including myself) but Signal is installed on a few

  • I talk to some friends / family on Signal exclusively. They either already cared about it, or they’re close enough that they trust my recommendation / still don’t care but want to put in the effort
  • I talk to some friends / family on Signal only when we want to have a more private conversation
  • Some people won’t ever be convinced, I talk to them on other services or in person when privacy is important. I set up boundaries to protect myself, and people usually respect that.

This way I protect myself while respecting other people’s choices.

For you I’d recommend focussing on the second option. When you need to talk privately, ask the person to install it and give a short explanation for why it’s better. If they do, then great it’s installed and it’ll get used once in a while. Maybe they will see other people and build up the network. If they don’t install it, then suggest an alternative like talking in person

otter,

Which generation leaves them open/closed?

I haven’t noticed a pattern, but I also haven’t really explored

otter,

Interesting

I think my whole family uses few tabs. For me, once I can’t read the titles easily, I start splitting them into separate windows and virtual desktops. Once I finish a task associated with a window I close it

It’s so nice when I can restart the browser clean

otter,

When I start up, I right click on a folder and “open all in new tabs”

Then shift click to pin them again. Makes it easier to restart when I need to

otter,

I’m not your target for the question, since I haven’t ever tried Unlimited

Bitwarden is very solid for a password manager, and it works well for my family

You could compare prices between just ProtonMail+Bitwarden (or other manager)+VPN of choice?

otter,

Is it possible you tried Keepass? I thought Bitwarden’s UI was pretty good and modern, and that’s one of the silly reasons why I picked it over keepass long time ago

otter,

Oh a moth makes sense! I hadn’t thought of that

otter,

This one got an audible laugh, it’s so simple but so good

otter,

Looks like they tried to get rid of it 10 years ago then brought it back

otter,

I guess this isn’t necessarily good, but it’s a bit of a fun story?

People pirate Photoshop, isn’t that subscription based?

I’m not familiar with clip studio paint

Is "Error rate limit" a Lemmy or a Connect or an instance thing?

I’m trying to make posts. I’ve got an image hosted on catbox, so I’m posting only text and links. Most days I can make about 4 before I get that error. (I save my posts for when I have time.) Today, I got it after the first one. Is this a Lemmy thing, or Connect, or my instance or the instance I’m posting on?...

otter,

Possibly instance? I post a LOT of stuff in a short amount of time, usually I sit down and post a set of links / text posts and it’s fine.

Could you make an account on another instance and try to post the same way?
