redcalcium, to linuxmemes in It's (usually) already installed

Microsoft offers to buy out AppGet and had its developer join them, but then ghost him once they realized the dev is also Sonarr dev.

redcalcium, to piracy in I had no idea that you could download movies from the 90ies from archive.org

Any random internet users can create an account and upload stuff to the internet archive. Just be careful when you download softwares there.

redcalcium, to memes in Waiting

Are you living in a UTC -6.5 Timezone?

redcalcium, to memes in Economic Theory is Fun tho.

Basically a bunch of toll roads where you pay to use them, right? But paying every time you use the road will get expensive quick, so road companies will offer subscriptions so you can save money if you frequently use their roads. Some companies will bundle subscriptions from many road companies together so you’ll only pay for one subscription instead of dozens. They might even offer discount if you use yearly subscription. Viola! Now you have road tax except paid to private companies.

The approximately equal amount of upvotes and downvotes this comment received pretty much sums up the entire gif wars.

No! If capitalism gone, my 0.0000000001% chance of becoming a billionaire would be gone as well!

redcalcium, to memes in Yeah, well...

The fluoride concentration in tap water is like 0.7mg/l. Toxic dose is 60 mg/kg, but 0.2 mg/kg is enough to cause some gastrointestinal discomfort. If I chug 16 liters of tap waters after I brushed my teeth I’ll have some gastrointestinal discomfort from fluoride but I’ll probably die from water poisoning first.

redcalcium, to memes in WD-40 and some tape are the only tools you need in this life.

Something moves where it shouldn’t? Apply tapes.

Something doesn’t move where it should? Apply WD-40.

redcalcium, to linuxmemes in You should

It was a death sentence back then, but now I bet those with a threadripper with huge RAM can tank it until it hit ulimit.

redcalcium, to linuxmemes in Oh no ...

How do you curate your mastodon feed? How do you find interesting people to follow? I haven’t created a mastodon account yet because I honestly not sure how to do this.

redcalcium, to memes in It's gonna be tremendous.

After beating one corona, we get treated with another corona.

redcalcium, (edited ) to selfhosted in Streaming local Webcam in a Linux machine, and acessing it when on vacations - which protocol to choose?

If you have a Home Assistant instance, adding a webcam and accessing it from outside of your home network is quite easy: home-assistant.io/…/usb-webcams-and-home-assistan…

Home Assistant is a very useful platform to have around if you have a handful of IoT devices at home.

redcalcium, to linux in New Linux user here. Is this really how I'm supposed to install apps on Linux?

Chance that your Ubuntu version already supports OpenVPN and wireguard (check your settings -> network). If so, just download wireguard/OpenVPN config files from mullvad: mullvad.net/account/openvpn-config?platform=linux

redcalcium, to piracy in BitTorrent Pirates Won’t Receive ISP Warnings (It Will Be Something Worse)

People behind cgnat is probably less likely to seed and thus less likely to get their IP address logged by these outfits. That’s just my pet theory though, not sure how to confirm it. Anyone ever heard of someone behind cgnat and still got the love letter?

redcalcium, to piracy in I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car

The care package with roadside assistance seems reasonable, though your insurance usually already cover road assistance. The plus package is insane though, they charge that much just to enable remote start via their app?
