redcalcium, to selfhosted in Help needed setting up NGINX reverse Proxy / HA / Vaultwarden using Duckdns

What happened when you tried to open it on incognito mode / private browsing mode?

Btw, if you’re using Chrome, you can type thisisunsafe to bypass hsts warning if nothing else work.

redcalcium, to selfhosted in What happens to my instance if my domain expires?

I don’t think you can change your lemmy instance’s domain yet. Afaik there is no official way to do it. FMHY lost their domain (they are using a free domain and lost it) and was attempting to switch to a new domain for their instance and developing a tool to migrate to a new domain, but somehow decided to start fresh and discard their old data instead. No idea what happen with the migration tool they were working on (is it actually working? did they actually released the code?), so save yourself some headache and make sure to never lost your domain, which means don’t use free domain because that domain isn’t actually yours and can be yanked without any notice.

redcalcium, to memes in Google “search”

Have you tried downranking (or even blacklisting) the spammy sites on your Kagi search result? That alone is an improvement over Google.

redcalcium, to memes in Lemmy v0.19

There is a possible outgoing federation issue but I haven’t seen it happen myself, so it might be pretty rare: github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4288

redcalcium, to piracy in YouTube on Firefox mobile is awesome

IIRC AdGuard iOS content filter works on safari a while ago to block youtube ads, but that was before youtube began its war against adblockers. Haven’t tested it again yet.

redcalcium, to lemmyshitpost in And yet I have to listen to my uncle rant and rave about immigrants and pretend it's okay.

The key differences here is “inviting” vs “paying”.

redcalcium, to memes in Why? Are we not doing enough?

If you missed them maybe you can persuade those wikifeet contributors to join your lemmy instance.

redcalcium, to linux in Help. Various games stopped working and i have no idea how to diagnose the issues

Instead of guessing, looking at the log might help. Launch the game with PROTON_LOG=1 %command% set in “Set Launch Options” setting in the game properties. The log file will appear on your home directory.

redcalcium, to linux in NVIDIA Linux Driver Adds Wayland Bug Fixes and Improvements

My desktop would crash back to login screen after playing mass effect legendary edition. After exiting the game, if the desktop idle for a while, the moment the automatic screen off kick in, the CPU fan would whirl and if I wiggle the mouse, the desktop would immediately crash back to the login screen. Not sure whose fault it is, nvidia 545, EA, wayland or gnome.

redcalcium, (edited ) to linux in X11 forwarding (X server) for Android

This might work:

  • install an x server app in your phone (e.g. XSDL) and start it
  • install Termux from f-droid (the one in play store hasn’t been updated due to changes in play store policy that prevents Termux package manager from working)
  • in Termux, run something like DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0 ssh -Y user@hostname
redcalcium, to memes in Do yourself a favor

Why make coleslaw when you can deep fried (or air fried) the cabbage. Less effort and tastier result.

redcalcium, to memes in Just Say Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

One marijuana? One kilogram?

redcalcium, to selfhosted in Miro/Figjam alternative?

Maybe Affine? They have self-hosted dokcker image with armv7 and arm64 support: github.com/toeverything/docker so it’ll probably work on your pi4.

redcalcium, to linux in dlss3 to fsr3 mod became available

An Nvidia RTX graphics card is required to use this mod.

redcalcium, to memes in Lemmy v0.19

Don’t wanna spend money to upgrade the closet junk because that’s where retired stuff from other devices ended up. Eventually an old SSD would ended up there though.
