He has seen a Jeep penis. Where did you think vehicles come from?

And glibc.

Just to confirm, I say gee lib cee or lib cee as well. Honestly, I have never heard any different.

Since the pronunciation of “gif” became an issue, I stopped caring about how anyone says anything. My pet giraffe has his own opinion though.

Secret service agents moments after the 1981 assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest at the side entrance of the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue by John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was walking to his limousine after a speech to AFL-CIO leaders when Hinckley, 25, who was standing among a group of reporters, fired six shots, hitting Reagan...

It’s got a stock so its a little less spray-and-pray, but not by much. It wouldn’t be my first choice in a crowded area, is what I am saying.

Oops. Happens to the best of us. ;)

It wasn’t logging into some instances automatically and some saved instances were just gone. Lemmy.ca was in a weird half logged in state after its update.

There really weren’t any major issues, TBH. When I opened Connect after the lemmy.ca update, the app got a little confused, s’all. I figured I would just drop a note here about it if someone was looking for an answer.

I never have. Just thinking about WiFi and Bluetooth drivers on random laptops still puts me into a full flashback state. (My first experience was back in 2002, I think?)

However, getting all of that stuff working was the best learning experience I ever had. At the time, I was just learning about IT security and WiFi pcap was all the rage back then.

How about imagining that it is also filled with hydrogen and covered in thermite? That is probably a bit scarier.

Flushing is a thing.

I own two houses and seven toilets and I can’t say that I have ever had my toilets stink unless they are broken or not cleaned regularly.

Also, they might be stinky if I was to get my nose all up in there, but I tend not to do that.

As far as I know, my bathrooms all have working fans as well. That could cause issues if they were broken.

The short comment I posted should be classified as a quip.

What it actually insinuated is there is a very short list of operating and maintenance procedures for toilets. If you are to the point of closing the lid to contain odors, some of those basic steps might be getting missed. Hence, the quip.

How can I block posts from all bot accounts of specific instance? (alien.top)

I do not want to block all bots. I only want to block bots from specific instance. More specifically, the @alien.top instance is using most, if not all, bot accounts with random usernames. It uses that instance to post in communities of other instances. I thought about blocking other instances. But the main issue lies with...

Your instance is misreporting its name somehow and it was super annoying when I was trying to block it.

Is it alien.top or selfhosted.forum? Pick one please.

Also, do you manage any other instances so I can block those as well? Needless to say, I am slightly pissed off that I have replied to several posts before I saw they were bots. Some of those replies took some effort when I was trying to actually be helpful.

Ah. There are lots of different substrate mixes for oyster mushrooms and I grow several different types myself, so I was just curious.

That’s clever about the pregnancy.

I would have thought it was about a case of herpes that you caught from your girlfriend and then gave to your mom.

Being serious for a second, that site just counts hits returned by search engines. ‘Bad breath’ returns an 89.6% positive result, as weird example.

It thought about that, actually. If I was in a gladiator pit, I would absolutely want my own vote to count, and it does.

However, after thinking about the dynamics of social media updooting, the first vote, in my opinion, is actually the starting point for the scale, not 0/0. It’s not that OPs vote doesn’t count, it’s just that the scale is shifted by one and starts at 1/0 by default. OP can then choose to keep the upvote, remove the upvote or downvote. (Basically, it’s not OPs choice to get the 1/0 vote. Changing the default vote, or keeping it, is where OP has a choice.)

There is an argument to be had that all posts start at 0/0, regardless of defaults. My own opinion is that they actually all start at 1/0. Supporters of either could argue they are correct.

I am fully aware that I am making a really stupid argument here, but it’s supposed to be in fun.

All posts start at one upvote. An equal number of votes equals zero, which is basically a negative one.

I know, right?

“JWT Token” translates to “JSON Web Token Token”. It’s redundant or it implies that you have tokenized your token.
