Obviously, uBlock Origin. Others are multi-account containers, facebook container, privacy badger, bitwarden (if you use it as a password manager), and keepa (if you shop on amazon).
I’ve always just used konsole or gnome terminal. Never really looked into what else is available. Tried cool-retro-term the other day, but the novelty wore off pretty fast for me....
I’m just happy we didn’t lose power or water. Had to cancel some appointments because I didn’t want to risk driving even though there was barely any precipitation (therefore ice). Now I hope my car starts when I go out later.
Can you provide more info how it’s easy to accidentally wipe? I’ve only done a transfer once, but it was by installing authenticator on the new phone and logging in, then deleting the other one on the old phone after testing that the codes work.
Fairly more optimistic than the previous years because there’s no rain in the forecast this time. Freezing is more manageable if there’s no ice everywhere. Of course there’s still the danger of pipes bursting because of lack of winterization. Then the most obvious, the fear of losing power.
Mine is Strawberry since it has a ton of options and plays a ton of formats. It’s also (distant) fork of Amarok 1.4 and integrates well with KDE Plasma. I’m curious what other people are using these days. What’s your favorite player?
My wife wants to try invisalign and we’re in our late 30s. She just wants to straighten her upper front teeth (slight overbite). Did your orthodontist say anything about expectations for adults and if there’s any difference?
I think the creator of the second one you mentioned (alien.top) halted the project for the time being due to the extreme backlash they got from lemmy users about their methodology.
I think they are fine for posts that don’t need engagement. The problem is, those bots also repost stuff of which comments need to be seen by the OP like AITA or posts asking for advice, things that the OP will never see if you comment here on lemmy. Those reposts are useless. Those bots should only be used for static content (pics, videos, etc.).
Does any of you know firsthand how the ad industry works? I hate them with all my heart and I already go out of my way to block them but maybe you have been on the other side of the fence and can share some internal insight on what to focus on to really disrupt the data collection. I.e. even if I use uBlock can the ad network...
I think there are levels to it. Adblockers, while still not being used by the majority of people, has a pretty significant chunk of users and is becoming more common to regular people, not just privacy-concerned users. So I think DNS level blocking is fine. You start to stand out when you add more privacy and anonymity tools on top of it, like Decentralyes, for example.

I was a bit bummed when I heard Godzilla was on screen for less than 10 minutes, but the reviews and ratings have convinced me to probably go watch it in theaters!
Edit: I just booked last minute tickets for the last show tonight (in 1.5 hours) lol. I’ll be busy tomorrow and I don’t want to go on a weekend, so might as well go now.
Edit 2: Just got back from the theater. The two best things about this film are:
Atomic breath / heat ray. Even the latest hollywood godzilla’s version of atomic breath is nothing compared to this one. Amazing.
The score. The eerie orchestral swells fit so well with the circumstances of the time period when the film takes place. I’ll definitely listen to the score again if they release it officially.
I’d say it’s worth it to watch in theaters. It’s not perfect, but all scenes with godzilla more than make up for whatever flaws the rest of the film has.
Ok I have a question. I’m kinda a noob when it comes to privacy. I’ll follow the guides and do the things to try to minimize ad companies selling my data etc....
One possibility: Are you on the same network (i.e. wifi) without a vpn? If yes, then both of you have the same public IP, so it’s trivial to figure out you’re likely in the same household.
I picked up a bunch of unflavored instant ramen packets with the intention of making my own. I’m a big fan of Korean Ramyun packs and make them often, but they are getting pricy nowadays. Does anyone else in c/cooking do this as well? What are your favorite quick broth recipes?
I don’t have an exact recipe, but my wife likes to add Perilla or Sesame oil to ramyun broth. We want to try truffle oil but we can’t find it in any of the asian groceries in our area. Oh and dashi and/or miso are definitely what I would use if I made broth from scratch.
