They just went back on limited tour for 20th anniversary of Ocean Avenue and I got to finally see them in concert. It was amazing. They also said that they were thinking about coming out with some new stuff.

As someone with a degree in physics who ended up in an engineering role, I approve of this meme.

Video games, TV, books, music. Usually in that order.

Used to be reddit, but I left that crap during the great migration.

Ours is “Eternal Flame Crematorium”. No specific reason, we just like the sound of it

We watched the Murder on the Orient Express series, including the nee Haunting in Venice movie. I really liked them. They’re fun and keep me guessing until the end.

Greatest feel good movie. It has an amazing message at the end

You’re right that it’s about consumerism for many people, but it doesn’t have to be.

Maybe you’re focusing on the wrong things? Christmas, for me, is a time to show my family that I care for them. Yes, through gifts, but also through time spent with them. It’s a chance to speak others’ love language. For me, doing things for others is how I really feel better about myself.

I also enjoyed it as a spinoff. Didn’t fit with the rest of the show, but was good for what it was.

Scrubs - I maintain that the “9th season” was a spinoff. It was called Scrubs: Med School. Scrubs as a whole series (1-8) is unbeatable.

Stranger Things - it just seems to hit all the right notes. Especially season 4. There were some episodes in that season that were just perfect.

Me too. Middle earth is my haven. LOTR is both my favorite book and favorite movie. I have even enjoyed other Tolkien content including the Silmarillion, the Hobbit movies, and the Rings of Power. I know they’re not LOTR standard but they are still enjoyable and don’t detract from what I love about Tolkien’s universe.

Ariadne. Princess of Crete who led Theseus through the labyrinth.

I like Greek mythological names and this one is beautiful.

I just listened to an audiobook of the same name. They pronounced it “Air-ee-odd-knee”. But I actually like the pronunciation “Are-ee-odd-neigh” better. Emphasis on the “odd” in both cases.

First, determine the state of the planet 50 years from now. This will largely dictate my next set of questions.

Is the earth on fire? Is there rampant suffering? What was the biggest catastrophe to mankind in that time?

Did humanity actually do something to help the earth? Once I learn this, I can invest in that thing to simultaneously push that technology forward and benefit from it myself.

Is any single person held responsible for bad things that have happened? Unlikely, but if so, I would work on assassinating that person.

How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I remember when it was just Hulu for $5 and Netflix for $8. Saved $50 a month from cable. Now it seems we spend more. I have four. Max, Peacock, Paramount and Hulu. Prime doesn’t count because it sucks balls. (Only paying Netflix when next Stranger Things and Squid Game is released). Curious to see what the average...

Disney and Hulu package. I’ve got three kids.

Amazon prime but for the Prime shipping.

I’m using my parents Paramount+ temporarily just to watch Star Trek.

Apple TV+ but only because I got 6 months free through playstation.

Honestly, I still believe there can be good Marvel movies. Just pull back on the number of releases. And not every movie needs to be Avengers Endgame successful. They are trying to do that for every release and it is understandably backfiring hard.

Depends on what you’re talking about. If you consider all the injuries we’ve ever picked up in life, we’d all be dead. If you’re just talking about the injuries I have now not healing, then I’m fit as a fiddle.

“Right now” is forever. It’s always “right now”. So, don’t let the past weigh you down and don’t let the future trip you up. Live in the moment.

Is there a Spotify alternative that has no ads?

I pay for Spotify for 7 years or so now and i'm so sick of all the ads. After every update there seems to be an: oops, sorry, you have ads now. Podcasts are filled with ads. I was just listening to a podcast where they shoved in 3 ads mid-sentence. How long until musicians put ads in their songs. I'm just so sick of it.

Xmanager on Android. Still Spotify but no ads.
