Well, he isn’t anyone’s boss here. I agree, and so would linus nowadays, that this is toxic and should be avoided, but the anger I fully understand.

Attempting to shift blame away from yourself after making a change which breaks a large portion of user space is cause for termination at any company I’ve worked at. It’s cowardice. This action goes against one of the most important, core philosophies, of the kernal. Do not break userspace. Also, this person should know better. They are not some odd newbie who may not grasp the ideas yet.

In a world where termination is not an option harsh criticism is required. This though, I agree, was anger driven unprofessionalism

sorrybookbroke,

0.69% (nice) on windows 7 64bit. That’s 0.75% total or 0.91% including windows 8 which is also dying. This is slightly under half of the linux user base according to these statistics

sorrybookbroke,

I was in that situation a while ago, so I booted in to try and keep it up to date. Well, in reality I booted into recovery mode as it decided to die. Anyway I’m now duel booting arch and tumbleweed

Hey man, I think if you watch this news segment you’ll understand my point, and know that you are, in fact, wrong

theonion.com/here-s-why-you-re-wrong-1819596219

sorrybookbroke,

Yeah, space is over-rated. Imma wish for no more wishes, for anybody. Fuck that well

sorrybookbroke, (edited )

Imma wish for a book describing how to build that spaceship in terms we can comprehend to spite your wish and beat you to the punch.

Or, you know, I could wish for a solution to climate change but you know, space techno dystopia sounds pretty metal

sorrybookbroke,

Not to sound condescending, but I’d like to caution against this language. Mint is a perfectly fine OS to run permanently and never look back, and you absolutely can take a bigger bite while never having to install another OS. Distros are for the most part just a jumping off point and a set of defaults.

I agree though, LMDE stronk

Nah, as an arch user most people don’t likely need it. Mints a great option. No matter what you do with arch (even endeavor) there’ll always be alot of setup, by design, and with how fast things move they’ll break commonly. Like the grub issue a bit back, or the kernal that could have caused screens to die, or more recently the nvidia drivers forcing many screens to be stuck at one brightness.

I love arch, it’s a testing bed for the linux ecosystem. The first place where things exit beta and interact with each other in the wild. It’s definitly not what most people want for a computer though especially not for work. That’s why I duel boot with OpenSuse tumbleweed for my contract work (also, separating work and regular life makes things easier but that’s not relevent)

sorrybookbroke,

That’s the first one I thought of too. Way too often I click a link in app or via search without thinking and it puts me on the wrong website.

sorrybookbroke, (edited )

You should delete the contents of the cache folder instead of the folder itself as sadly some apps will break pretty spectacularly if they can’t find the folder itself. Otherwise you’re entirely correct

sorrybookbroke,

Canadian parliament mistakenly recognized and celebrated a person who faught for the nazis who was Ukrainian as a veteran of ww2, along with the prime-minister of Ukraine. It was a mistake made by the organizer, with no real evidence it was purposeful. The actions has since been denounced. Terrible thing to have happened, it’s a fucked situation, but people are attempting to make it sound like direct support of nazism. Which it was not

Also, unlike what the meme suggests, this happened exactly once

sorrybookbroke,

Oh shit, so the country of canada has done it once before denouncing it and a single member of parliament has a history of defending her grandfather, who was not only a nazi but an author for a propaganda newspaper stolen from a Jewish guy.

I stand by the “only happened once” thing though. Your second argument is a singular member, who should of course be removed along with the speaker. It also has nothing to do with the current government of Ukraine.

The first is an embarrassment to canada and an action for which we as a whole and our legislator are partially responcible. The second is just one person, who is scum.

Glad you brought this to my attention though. Nationalism in all forms is a disgrace.

Indo wish you had given me a link to that quote though. In the future, if you quote something, provide the source. It seems like you’re hiding something when you don’t, which it seems you weren’t

Mastadon had a similar issue before the blowup. It’s not possible to stop in a completely open source and federated service. By design, anybody can join in, and create a new instance to do with as they please

If you want to make it better we need more servers that block this trash, and who have larger user-bases than the current ones. Create quality content on reasonable instances, advertise these sites, and bring other creators in

sorrybookbroke,

Yeah man, now a days the joke could be

A: she also does the hand gesture

B: in the anime she nukes orphanages

C: this is from a porn

D: racism

E: obama
