What about non-stick non-cooking non-spray? What am I supposed to do now? Nothing?

I see your pfp. I just came home from a road trip to Galveston, and I think I’ve had my fill of Buc-ees for a while. The brisket sandwiches and jerky are worth it, though.

F=1.8C+32 but for anyone else too lazy to do the math since the Americans are awake:

I did the math:

Room temperature is often defined as 68 degrees Fahrenheit (although I remember it being 73.4 in some old textbooks).

68+29.9 is 97.9 which is the normal temperature of a human body.

68+33.5 is 101.5 which is above normal temperature, i.e. fever.

AFAIK ~107.6 degrees is lethal.

I’d say more than half the crappy situations I end up in are both outside of and beyond my control. Sometimes, you just have to ride the suck train until things improve. Therapy is a powerful tool, but it has its limits, and it’s important to know when and how it can be helpful.

Whoa little buddy. Red flags going up. Something’s telling me we should walk through it, not over it.

I honestly hate the vast majority of Christmas music. And I’ve never worked retail. God I feel awful for anyone who has to work that sector between November and January.

Last Christmas gets a pass though. I kinda love Wham

Man, I remember when games were as simple as

  1. Power on
  2. Play game

I did fuck up the plumbing. Like I said, got in over my head. All the old pipes were cemented in and the disposal didn’t match up to the existing plumbing. I should have thrown in the towel sooner, but “too late” was when I, the dumbass with a sawzall, chose to admit defeat. He was here a solid 2 hours cleaning up my mess. I can fix most stuff, but sometimes, it just goes the wrong amount of sideways.

As for the disposal, if we were gonna replace it, we were gonna get a GOOD one. It’s a 1 horse and it’s probably overkill, but I’d rather spend the extra on a higher quality machine. We both spent way too much time living with shit tier appliances in cheap apartments.

Fortunately, the plumber was a total bro and replaced all the cemented fittings with compression fittings. So if the next one doesn’t perfectly fit, it’ll be as simple as loosening everything up and adjusting it all.

It’s the windowless version of the Fractal Design Define R5. The panels are all lined with padding to reduce noise. I have a single Noctua NF-F12 moving air through it. It’s capable of spinning to 2,000 RPM if needed, but it never gets hot enough inside to ever spin faster than 1,200. Even at full speed, the fan is still very tolerably quiet. I only bought the ippc version because it wasn’t brown and brown.

Also, the CPU is a 4790K cooled by a Noctua NH-U9B SE2. It’s a 92mm cooler that fit nicely in my old “Optimus Prime we have at home” case. It has two fans on it that run at a constant 900 RPM. It does a great job keeping heat in check at stock clock, but I wouldn’t trust it in an overclock situation on this CPU.

My in-laws live on a private road. They’re the fourth lot down from the main road (for the uninitiated, if your property would block access to another property, then there exists an access easement across your property, and you must allow people - principally the owners - to traverse your property so they can get to theirs). Everyone is responsible for (but not obligated to) maintaining the stretch of road in front of their houses. The first couple houses are owned by folks with a good chunk of change and the road is as nice as it gets. The third house down has never done a thing to their stretch of road and it’s a piece of shit for that little bit. You’re cranking the steering wheel from lock to lock to lock again to avoid holes 6 inches deep. Their house is in a sorry state so there’s not a chance in the world they have the money to fix the road up. My in-laws throw some gravel in the holes from time to time to make things a little easier on themselves.

The municipality can’t/won’t do a thing. They don’t own the road and it’s not like the neighbors are blocking people in or out. The road is only nigh (not completely) impassable.

As an Okie, I’ll admit that our “cold” isn’t truly cold. Our coldest nights on average are like -3°C. In fact, the coldest it’s ever been in my neck of the woods is -25°C, and that was that freak polar vortex that knocked out power in Texas for several days in Feb '21. The coldest verified recorded temperature in Oklahoma happened in Nowata in Feb 2011, where it dipped to -35°C. And that was also a freak occurrence, and it was 24°C again within a few days. In my part of the state, it gets above freezing point about 355 days of the year. Rarely do we ever spend a full 24 hours below freezing, though it happens once or twice a year. We also get a decent snow or two most years, but it never sticks around for long. New snow is beautiful. But once it’s a day or two old, it’s disgusting. It’s nice that it all melts away within a few days.

And yes, I am a white man, and I wear shorts all year and in any weather.

Don’t ask me about the hot, humid hell we become over summer.

I can see how I insinuated that taco bell is Mexican food, but I don’t actually think taco bell is Mexican food. Far from it. But it’s been memed for like 15+ years that taco bell gives you life-altering shits.

https://external-preview.redd.it/6idndRgzQ3fo-hXZBO_feJkqiHaTjicu0DaM0jT6V9E.jpg?auto=webp&s=08a7b7c8564dd0ca55c50b33918a4cea751c430a

I seriously remember seeing this in high school as early as '07, but I’m sure it was probably going around before then.

I live in the OKC metro and if you’re looking for real Mexican food here, you’re pretty spoiled for choice. I won’t suggest we have the drop on Mexican food, but you can find some really great places here without having to look hard. Taco Bell is great because the food actually tastes pretty good and there are like four within a five minute drive of my house.
