stepanzak,

I have no idea, but couldn’t this be an XY problem or how it’s called? I mean, do you really need to use apps as different users? Maybe you do, I don’t know, but sometimes it’s good to think about whether the problem you are trying to solve isn’t just a result of another peoblem.

stepanzak,

Please see my responses to the responses to my comment. I agree it’s 100% within the author’s rights, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a shitty move.

stepanzak,

I tried AM some time ago, and I was extremely confused about the documentation and how to use it. I even watched a YouTube video from DistroTube on how to use it, but I still couldn’t figure it out. I don’t exactly remember the issues, though, and I hope it’s better now.

stepanzak,

My first ever distro was EndeavourOS. I installed it when I was 13 or 14 years old because someone on reddit said it’s customizable. I never felt like I need to switch to anything else.

stepanzak,

TIL!

stepanzak,

I’m not sure about the exact commands, but you do something like gh auth login to authenticate the CLI and then something like gh ssh setup to change ssh’s config file to authorize using the GH CLI.

I feel like I’m posting the exact same comment a bit too often, but here it is: Zotify is the answer!

stepanzak,

I downloaded about 3 hours max at once but got no errors.

stepanzak,

I think you can somehow activate it with the activation script. link

stepanzak,

I just read the whole article and my desire to live in the woods without electricity was multiplied by ten. Too bad I study IT :(

stepanzak,

I highly recommend topgrade. You can add custom commands so clearing paru’s cache shouldn’t be a problem. I just do it by hand as I’m ok with it.

stepanzak, (edited )

Paru cache is huge and you have to delete it manually with something like paru -Sc i think

stepanzak,

Cannot this be caused by deleting the folder and not just everything inside?

I made it to Linux! What is your must-have FOSS or Free Software for linux?

Thank you so much, comrades! I am feeling pretty comfortable with linux mint, and now would like some suggestions for some absolutely necessary FOSS or free license software for the OS. So far I have the standard, Firefox, ThunderBird, LibreOffice, yada yada. Thank you again to everyone on the linux comm! sankara-salute

stepanzak,

I know about Zellij, but in its current state, I think it doesn’t make sense for me to switch. I really lobe my Tmux setup, and I don’t think I would be able to replicate it on Zellij, mainly because of Tmux plugins I use. I also don’t think that Zellij currently has any advantages over Tmux except for better default config and user friendliness that I don’t need. I’m looking forward to the Zellij ecosystem getting better tho. Some day, I will probably make the switch. The WASM tabs feature looks extremely promising!

stepanzak,

these are save and trusted open-source scripts to activate windows for free using various methods.

Two things:

  • About a week ago in school, my friend told me to remove System32. I told him that I don’t have it on Linux and that I’ll show him how to break Linux. I typed rm -fr / --no-preserve-root, but I was really tired that day, and for some reason, I pressed enter. After a second, I did Ctrl+C, and luckily, it was without sudo, but it still deleted many random files on my system that I’ve had access to.
  • Once I wanted to ssh into my Raspberry Pi on the local network and accidentally entered my local ip address and SSHed into my own computer, I was SSHing from. I deleted some config files thinking I’m doing it on the Raspberry, but luckily, I haven’t done any big damage. It could have ended much worse, however, because it took almost two hours of confused screaming until I noticed that I’m, in fact, doing all the stuff on my own computer. Don’t have the same username and password on pc and server, guys.
stepanzak,

I think that the client is what really matters, because AFAIK you have no way to verify what’s actually running on their servers.

stepanzak,

My happiness is ruined :(

stepanzak, (edited )

This is amazing! I’m not using Gnome, but moments like this are the reason why I love Linux so much.

stepanzak, (edited )

Yeah, it’s a terrible thing that you have to do this to get your city into the weather app, but I simply love the fact that you can do that, whereas on some proprietary system, you might wait months for the fix.
