I was on Mullvad before but moved to proton when Mullvad stopped offering port forwarding :/

My problem is that I only need to use the VPN, but I get pop ups all the time asking if I want to subscribe to their all in one plan or buy their black Friday deal. When all I want to do is connect to the VPN.

So yes, even when you subscribe you still get pop ups (and in their apps too so you can’t even use ublock origin to block them).

To this day my friends know not to call a melt a grilled cheese around me or they’re going to hear my shitty retelling of this.

subtext, (edited ) to piracy in Best country to VPN to?

I’m not entirely sure on the absolute best, but I always use Switzerland. I believe they have extremely strong privacy laws that protect individual privacy and I believe they have a relaxed view on downloading so long as it is solely for personal use, though uploading / sharing torrenting is still very much disallowed.

I appreciate your attention to leap year

Pedantic, but for carbon dioxide or oxygen (or most other molecules you’ll write out) it’s a subscript for the number. Wikipedia

So it would be CO2~ or H2O or O~2~~

Seems my markdown is rusty, however you make subscripts I guess for CO2

Curious what it is about those countries that would cause you to advise against using them?

I switched to Proton VPN and the gluetun docker container for port forwarding.

You joke, but I think I remember it being called Whisparr

Yeah it’s definitely way past the line where it becomes worthwhile to go after you and there’s even a money trail somewhere to trace it back. IMO definitely not worth any potential legal headaches to buy or sell a service like this.

subtext, to piracy in E-Books, best places to get them?

Good to know!

It’s just too bad that the iOS TestFlight is full… maybe someday!

subtext, to science_memes in I have a software joke, but I’m not ready to release it yet

Because this should have been transcribed, here’s each one from inside out:

I have a geography joke, but I don’t know where it is.

I have a statistics joke, but it’s not significant.

I have an Economics joke, but it’s not in demand.

I have a civil engineering joke, but it’s still under construction.

I have a philosophy joke, but I don’t know why.

I have a math joke, but I can’t proof it.

I have a physics joke it’s low potential.

I have a chemistry joke, but it’s still brewing.

I have a biology joke but it’s not viable.

I have an archaeology joke but it’s probable just a ritual.

I have a software joke, but I’m not ready to release it yet.

subtext, to piracy in Do you prefer private or public trackers?

Go and interview for a tracker like RED (interviewfor.red). From RED, you can get just about anywhere within the private tracker world if you’re a good member and rank up.

That’s fair, and not OCR, just me typing this up by hand (and autocorrect from iOS). That’s why I added periods where they weren’t in the source and commas as well.
