surewhynotlem,

“we had a driver who didn’t immediately stop yesterday… He’s dead now… But also let’s put up a cute meme!”

surewhynotlem,

Unlikely why?

Here’s a video of it being used for that: youtu.be/76AvV601yJ0?si=kvdh4ZLiBCmyldPN

I have seen people argue that "they are pretty intricate and expensive things to use only for the purposes of knitting gloves. ". To them, I would like to submit my wife’s $1100 sewing machine that definitely gets used, and isn’t just some weird status symbol among creative types.

surewhynotlem,

Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because its sterile and I like the taste.

surewhynotlem,

I have been downvoted to hell for what I’m about to say, but I’m going to say it again anyway.

IT support people are now called engineers. No, I don’t like it. No it’s not proper “engineering”. Yes, language evolves and there’s nothing we can do about it. If that’s a problem for people, I recommend screaming into the void. It doesn’t help, but you feel better after a while.

surewhynotlem,

The longer I stare at this, the more W becomes TF.

surewhynotlem,

You should try it. It makes the eventual climax just fantastic.

surewhynotlem,

The average person has fewer than two legs.

surewhynotlem,

Rednecks are historically left. Big on unions.

Is there a forum for people who are lonely and sad but specifically not incel sickos?

like you know you’re a good person at heart but life circumstances and trauma and bullying and etc prevented you from learning the proper social skills to find companionship. not necessarily a forum to actually find friends (i find going into things with that intention feels fake and weird), but rather a forum to commiserate...

surewhynotlem,

I don’t know of one, but the Internet is toxic. I’ve had more luck meeting strangers into the same hobbies. Went to an open source conference. A business meetup. Professional settings are lower pressure because there’s no expectation of making actual friends.

surewhynotlem,

So this is how I find out I’m not straight? It’s not that I expected.

surewhynotlem,

You’re in a meeting with 16 people with identical corporate laptops. Easy way to see whose is whose if they’re not open.

surewhynotlem,

Obligatory “fuck Adobe”. My proudest moment last year was cutting our company’s Acrobat licenses by 70% and taking about a million bucks out of their greedy little pockets.

Nitro Pro is great anyway. It does the job.

surewhynotlem,

“what idiot wrote this?”

Checks the commit

“Well I’m sure I had a good reason”

surewhynotlem,

Including code you’ve written yourself.

surewhynotlem,

Jokes on them. I can be looking straight at something and still not be paying attention.

surewhynotlem,

Freedom of speech is just fine. Call me when the government arrests you for something you say.

surewhynotlem,

How DARE you disrespect Gary Oldman like that

surewhynotlem,

She wasn’t offended by the answer. She thought the cat couldn’t talk and was just saying ‘meow’.

surewhynotlem,

“first past the post” voting always devolves to a two party system. The founding fathers knew this and warned against it. Until we get ranked choice, or something similar, we’re stuck.

surewhynotlem,

Gary has a deep and rich inner life. It’s disrespectful to boil him down to his career choice.

surewhynotlem,

Third spaces. Capitalism doesn’t like these as they don’t generate a profit. So there aren’t many left.

Libraries, parks, anything publicly owned and accessible.

There are some privately owned third spaces, like the inside of malls. But that’s about it I think.

surewhynotlem,

This is a bad take. When we, society, allow you to register as a business, we form an agreement. Part of that agreement is that you follow certain rules. We make those rules to better society.

Some rules are things like pay taxes, or don’t sell outdated food. Some rules are there to make sure anyone can shop there, without discussion.

Those rules are important because it’s very possible for a small number of business owners to make a group of people’s lives very difficult, especially out in rural areas where people don’t have a lot of options.

For a concrete example, let’s say Pfizer cures cancer. Do you want them to be able to say they won’t sell to Christians? You can’t just “go elsewhere”. But now this is allowed.

The much more dangerous part of this ruling is that the supreme Court ruled on a case where there was no standing. A lot of people don’t realize that having standing is one of the cornerstones of our legal structure. Now, in theory, any idiot could sue for any dreamed up scenario and have a much better chance of winning in court.
