trackcharlie, to piracy in [Humor] Dunkey's Guide to Streaming Services

Just a firm reminder that pirates get better service than the people that pay all these garbage subscriptions

It’s incompetent and immature morons that continue to push segregation, and realistically the more they fight it the more I have to ask “what did you do”

trackcharlie, to linuxmemes in It happens 🤷

I very much understand your pain, my drive died mid-year while I was at university, I just cleaned it up and added it to a virtual machine with win10 to finish projects with the windows based programs.

Worked surprisingly well. I used virtual machine manager on arch (and now endeavour, I can’t stop distro hopping but I’ve stayed on endeavour the longest)

Fuck me I laughed

trackcharlie, to linuxmemes in Looks like I'll be distrohopping again!

I’ve had great results with EndeavourOS

trackcharlie, to linuxmemes in It happens 🤷

When the windows update bricked my OS I sighed in pure relief as I could finally stop using windows forever. As an added bonus I didn’t lose any work because the drive was fully accessible to arch… after windows said it had encrypted the drive.

Absolute trash operating system and I have zero regrets leaving.

I’m pro co-ed everything but this is not the reason it should be done lmao

trackcharlie, to lemmyshitpost in Check mate atheists

I got my present though and it was exactly what I wanted.

More posts on darwin award.

Natural selection never stops.

trackcharlie, to linuxmemes in Completely untrue nowadays...

I stopped using paper and suddenly my printer problems went away

I’m quite certain that the Japanese understand that the imperialists were at fault for the war.

They’re understandably salty about how the war ended but were also extremely aware that alternative outcomes would have had much more death and destruction than just the two cities.

The US didn’t just drop nukes because they thought it was funny, they did it as a last resort because the alternative was meat waves on both sides.

Was the culprit an american exchange student?

trackcharlie, to lemmyshitpost in oh no a memes subreddit about my condition that I specifically searched for

I never said they could or couldn’t do anything. I specifically noted that people were giving up personal control in favour of pretend protection from things they themselves click on or search for then get mad about.

This was never a conversation about what reddit was doing and was always a conversation about the overall ineptitude and immaturity of society these days

trackcharlie, to piracy in When a Torrent disappears from 1337x, how do you find out what happened?

I can understand where you’re coming from but it’s not like the commenter lied. Both musk and trump have court cases involving sexual assault in various countries and our adversaries are getting one over on us because of the incompetence of every politician, not just left or right.

Perhaps I am seeing it in a different light but it sure seemed to me like billionaire and politician bashing as opposed to ‘orange man bashing’.

trackcharlie, to piracy in When a Torrent disappears from 1337x, how do you find out what happened?

I said fairly based. The commenters preoccupation with the fascism connection was odd but the rest was pretty much on point for presenting a theory as to why the torrent had been removed and re-added. The commenter added additional commentary to present a parallel for what the torrent uploader was doing in order to obtain more public interest.

In reference to your last line, you realize that the vast majority of the political sector is financially vested in ‘taking action’ against piracy, right? And by financially vested I obviously mean bribed by corps like MGM or UMG et al.

trackcharlie, (edited ) to piracy in Sony Steals Customers' Purchased Content - Piracy is COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED!

So, I don’t think you’re wrong but I think there was another way to do this.

A live example is the Deadpool game on steam. The original game is no longer available and cannot be purchased, bought, rented, or anything. However, if you bought it, you still have access to downloading it.

The reason? The new deadpool IP shredded the contracts with the original game developers primarily because the voice actors weren’t the ones everyone is now accustomed to (mostly ryan reynolds).

Steam managed to allow the content owners to be able to download and install the game without any problems while also complying with the new terms surrounding the deadpool ip.

This is primarily sony’s fault, in my opinion, because they chose not to go to bat for their customer base and opted to fuck over their own customers. If they do not refund everyone for all the content then anything sony has ever made should be pirated by everyone from now on because it’s clear that ownership no longer exists and if I can’t own anything, then I also can’t steal anything because clearly no one ‘owns’ it if even the people that paid for it cannot use it.
