That’s just a fundamental problem with security. You can vault up your home but give your idiot brother in law a key and find the back door wide open, him drunk on the kitchen floor.
Prompts don’t work and aren’t really the right way to go because they are annoying and pretty cryptic as apps often assign a myriad of features to a single permission. Everyone’s just going to hit OK.
It’s a difficult issue to solve because there are so many edge cases. And fundamentally you can’t really control what others do with your number.
Honestly. I wish we started talking about doing away with phone numbers altogether. I feel tech is there. And it’s honestly such a massive fingerprint. I’ve had mine for 20 years ffs.
Yeah my data is definitely an oversimplification. Raw bitrate doesn’t mean the same between them because they compress differently. I tried to control for that as best I could so it wasn’t the bitrate that was saving file size but the efficiency of the codec.
Lol, there you go. Your ISP and wireless carrier are THE worst. They also have a lot of your financial info that they sell off. Tracking too. Your carrier routinely pings your phone for get location and records the calls, where you were at the time, how long etc. Unless it’s encrypted, they see and harvest it all.
ISPs don’t have as much liberty but they too track and sell off a fair bit of your life. They also have your financial info as most almost run a background check these days.
They are a search proxy, sending your query to Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and whomever else they partner with at the time. They don’t anonymize them either, which is how DDG works.
They plant trees. That was their thing. For the environment. I don’t know how they magically get lumped into privacy discussions. They don’t care about privacy at all.
That can be solved by opening the disc using VLC when makemkv is scanning. VLC will free up the lock.
I’ve been wrestling with something similar for a week lol.
There’s a thread about the error on the makemkv forums. And I’ve personally salvaged discs this way only yesterday.
Also, makemkv can open a DVD as a raw data file. Mine were old TV shows so I was able to pull the individual episodes avoiding the errors or at least getting some if one was corrupt. I saved an additional 3 discs this way.
One last method if you can set the speed of the drive to 1x; rip slow and set lots of retries (5) to maybe give it a slightly better chance. 1x was always the most reliable. Any speed over and you have mixed results.
Lastly, there’s a list on the net about best drives. If you really care and want to throw $100 at it, pick one up. The drives for $20 you find on Amazon won’t read anything a few years old. Theirs lasers are garbage compared to ones manufactured 10+ years ago.
I love the entire process. I love that I can send them cash in an envelope with an account number on it and they’ll just top it up lol. I wish every online retailer had to do what they voluntarily do.
You can’t hide behind a VPN and access the entirety of the net. There will always be some site that will block you. It’s just par for the course. Unwinnable battle.
But why. There are so many good, legit places. Why do you feel you owe them your allegiance. Even despite knowing it’s a scam. This is the weirdest behaviour to me, sorry.
They just want ad clicks. It’s a really basic scam. Duplicate the website. Flood it with javascript mouse clicks and you can get an ad impression for every 3/4 clicks. Multiply that by thousands you can make decent coin.
