I should maybe attempt that at some point.

But knowing my brain, I’ll just forget everything 0.4 seconds after I am done.

For some reason, this didn’t work on my old phone after installing PixelExperience 11 on it.
There’s a third way. Bluetooth. At least you don’t need a cable, and you’ll save power.

For that reason, I usually use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi, unless I need higher bandwidth (except during peak hours of network usage, when my connection speed is below 1Mbps anyway).

Beware that what OP posted is old data. India is over 14% on Linux as of October 2023.

Old data, man.

Additionally for save and exit: :wq (read as write and quit) or ZZ (without colon).

user224,
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Sup. And ZZ is like :x, write only if change was made.

Why do these questions never start at -10? You know, likely to recommend staying away.

But also don’t panic out thinking someone on your network might have been torrenting weird stuff as you may just be behind CG-NAT or have dynamically assigned IP address.
If you do have static public IP, consider the possibility of someone using your wireless connection without permission (even if you changed the password, don’t forget to disable WPS PIN, or at the very least change it from default PIN, it’s easy to forget about).

I used to comment, but usually nobody sees the comments anyway.

I did like a few videos in the past 5 years that I have the current account though. 8 of them, to be precise.

I have a playlist of 9 for 4 months. So far, no hits.

…the thing is public domain…

Are you sure? I believe there’s likely copyright also applying to each performance.

Because I’ll be one of the first people engaging with the posts.

Another inconvenience arose when I inserted a short video in a presentation, which didn’t later work (didn’t even show) in PowerPoint.

I had the same issue. I even tried LibreOffice in Windows, and it still didn’t work.
Searching the web, I just found that it’s indeed issue of Windows. Specifically, with supported video codecs.

This is one of the threads: ask.libreoffice.org/t/…/44911

There seems to be !medicalgore , but it’s empty so far.
There’s no description of the community, so I am just assuming it’s same as r/medicalgore

user224,
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

This would also create issue with certificates.

Why did this not come to my head. My idea was to use video capture card, connect that to another computer or phone, set screens to mirror and then take snapshot of the video.

Work harder, not smarter.

What can we do about major sites blocking VPN providers?

I use ProtonVPN for everything, and I’ve started noticing more and more sites simply blocking me if I try to connect to them through ProtonVPN. As much as it sucks, I’ve more or less become acclimated to having to deal with an increased number of captchas while using a VPN; but I’m pretty angry about being blocked...

This is extra maddening with my banking app recently. I even set up split tunneling for it, but it still somehow figures out the VPN. The problem is, it doesn’t let me do ATM withdrawals nor generate one-time virtual cards. Ironically, it still let’s me view full details of my physical card…

So just disconnect from VPN? Oh, not so fast. It remembers that VPN was used at some point, and I’ll have to deactivate the app and then reactivate it without ever connecting to VPN.
Since I have to deactivate and reactivate it daily, immediately when needed, this has led me to decreasing the security by using virtual card reader for 2FA kept on same device as opposed to using physical one and keeping it at home as I used to before this BS.

This is what I mean by the physical 2FA card reader:

Yes, that’s the only thing at hand I had to cover the card number :)

Or for the BBC to promise to return the film, undamaged, once they’ve digitised them.

“Yeah, so…, we lost them it seems. But not to worry, here’s a £10 voucher to McDonald’s.”

user224 in here. I just made a mistake.
Firstly, I only wanted to test out SDF.org without wasting my username, but somebody decided to verify me out of their good heart. Then SDF.org announced their Lemmy instance. I didn’t know what Lemmy is, so I used my SDF username.
I can’t change it now.

Let’s analyze that. So there’s 3 things in there.

  1. User mentioned “bish”, which I autocorrected to Bishop. From past records, I can see user is not religious, thus we can assume it’s chess piece. Conclusion: Recommend chess sets and online chess games
  2. Based on "YOU’RE NOT GETTING ANY DATA FROM THIS " the user may be interested in privacy related software and services. Conclusion: Recommend VPNs and E2EE messaging services.
  3. User keeps eating the mic. Conclusion: Recommend dildo.

And I was making a ducking joke involving autocorrect.
