Sounds like my Moto G5s Plus. I updated it to Android 8.1 and it started having issues like lagging, completely freezing up, randomly restarting, battery drain, overheating, etc.
Oh, well. It ran PixelExperience 11 just fine. It also allowed me to use the notification LED that Motorola disabled in software for reasons unknown.

Edit: I just like this part from bootloader unlock license agreement on what doing so may cause:

Cause the Device to overheat, explode and/or catch fire, exceed SAR values, exceed safe volume settings, and otherwise be unsafe, including creating the potential to cause serious bodily injury, including death

I mean, Microsoft also has their Linux distro, sort of: github.com/microsoft/CBL-Mariner

Hmmm…

It’s mentioned here: join-lemmy.org/docs/…/03-votes-and-ranking.html so I thought I just didn’t notice it before.
My home instance is currently on Lemmy 0.19.0-rc.5, so there’s some new features, and I thought this one was here already since it’s mentioned on join-lemmy.org.

Anyway, there’s also “controversial” in this new version. Currently the most controversial post on Lemmy is this: lemmy.world/post/3234363

Sorry if I caused confusion to someone else than myself.

I prefer Scaled over Hot as it gives boost to smaller communities making it more fair.

user224, to asklemmy in Are there any communities here where I can share NSFW medical images?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

There seems to be !medicalgore , but it’s empty so far.
There’s no description of the community, so I am just assuming it’s same as r/medicalgore

For some reason, this didn’t work on my old phone after installing PixelExperience 11 on it.
There’s a third way. Bluetooth. At least you don’t need a cable, and you’ll save power.

For that reason, I usually use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi, unless I need higher bandwidth (except during peak hours of network usage, when my connection speed is below 1Mbps anyway).

I should maybe attempt that at some point.

But knowing my brain, I’ll just forget everything 0.4 seconds after I am done.

Reading this on smartphone in browser with desktop mode permanently enabled (and increased dp beyond smallest display size limit in dev settings).

I just wish it was 16:9. These ultrawide aspect ratios are terrible for a phone. Hell, I just want something like those old phablets.
My first “smartphone” was a 7" tablet with SIM card. Perhaps I should just try something like that, but tablets tend to be underpowered.

When I was 4 or 5 my 300 pound dad fell on me on the street.
Not well.

I basically still have a broken nose since then. The bone is blocking my left nostril for the most part. When I was at the hospital, none of the doctors noticed my broken nose. I did however need to get X-Ray or CT scan (I don’t remember which one it was) done urgently. The “urgently” took a month. “Oh, look, your nose was broken. You’ll be able to get plastic surgery at 18 for free, since it limits your breathing.”

Anyway, I’d still have bleeding face scraped from the asphalt. Perhaps even broken rib(s). It’s not unlikely for that to happen in such case, and it’s not like anyone would notice.

But this seems to be nothing special.
My dad broke his knee, called an ambulance, they took him to the ER. Then they took an X-Ray of his knee, someone just told him “It’s not broken. Go to checkup in a week.” He also had to get home somehow, on his own.
Well, anyway, he went to that doctor for the “Checkup” right next day. He looked at the X-Ray, said it’s very obviously broken and will need a surgery.

He also had some problem with his spine, took over 10 years for anyone to look at it, at which point it was late. Now his left leg is basically paralyzed and he’s on strong drugs.

My grandma had a badly done amputation, it kept bleeding and oozing pus. She also had some infusions recommended, but the doc who recommended those said she’ll need approval from GP. But the GP would have to visit her at home as transporting her would be too risky. Response from GP? “Not worth it, she’ll die soon anyway.”

Anyway, this kinda turned into rant. At the very least my whole mouth would be bleeding as I keep accidentally biting my cheeks and tongue.

user224, to piracy in I have a DVD collection I want on my Jellyfin library. What software should I use for compressing these DVD files to sizes matching what you find at sea?
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Do keep in mind that if it’s PAL DVDs and the original film was 24fps, it may likely be 4% faster.

I am still sad my laptop from 2007 (Compal FL90) died earlier this year. It was still pretty powerful, and really full of ports. I could even add USB3 ports with express card if I wanted to. And unlike with modern laptops, the keyboard had some travel.

Currently I use HP 255 G7. I wasn’t using it because that old laptop simply suited me better. It’s fine, but… I am still looking for a cheap used ThinkPad. But it does have a DVD drive, so that’s nice (yes, I do use that).
