18M I like computers, trains, space, radio-related everything and a bunch of other tech related stuff. User of GNU+Linux.
I am also dumb and worthless.
My laptop is HP 255 G7 running Manjaro and Linux Mint.
I own RTL-SDRv3 and RSP1 clone.

user224,

user224 in here. I just made a mistake.
Firstly, I only wanted to test out SDF.org without wasting my username, but somebody decided to verify me out of their good heart. Then SDF.org announced their Lemmy instance. I didn’t know what Lemmy is, so I used my SDF username.
I can’t change it now.

user224,

I’ve been pushing back my rsync backup because I am lazy to connect up the HDD. I might regret it. After all, my last data loss incident happened just 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, I just updated my Manjaro install after over 2 months today 🎉

user224,

*submersible

Submersibles, unlike submarines, have to be transported to where they are going to operate by a different vessel.

I am pouring one out to this little champ. Stripping HDCP and letting me... archive streaming services from 2016-2023 RIP (lemmy.world)

What killed it, well after reviewing some PS4 gameplay I noticed that it was having audio issues, like it would allow some sounds but not all. It was almost as if it was receiving a 5.1 audio output but was missing the centre channel. Even though the PS4 was set to stereo....

user224,

That, or if they’re like me, the person is just very tired. If I am extremely tired, I basically just hit shift on every word and don’t care about it. In such cases, I might fix my posts and comments in the morning, or even delete them if they feel too much like “what the fuck did I write there”.
Another key to identify those is double words.
Example: I Only Started Started Using Computers When When I Was 14.

What can we do about major sites blocking VPN providers?

I use ProtonVPN for everything, and I’ve started noticing more and more sites simply blocking me if I try to connect to them through ProtonVPN. As much as it sucks, I’ve more or less become acclimated to having to deal with an increased number of captchas while using a VPN; but I’m pretty angry about being blocked...

user224,

This is extra maddening with my banking app recently. I even set up split tunneling for it, but it still somehow figures out the VPN. The problem is, it doesn’t let me do ATM withdrawals nor generate one-time virtual cards. Ironically, it still let’s me view full details of my physical card…

So just disconnect from VPN? Oh, not so fast. It remembers that VPN was used at some point, and I’ll have to deactivate the app and then reactivate it without ever connecting to VPN.
Since I have to deactivate and reactivate it daily, immediately when needed, this has led me to decreasing the security by using virtual card reader for 2FA kept on same device as opposed to using physical one and keeping it at home as I used to before this BS.

This is what I mean by the physical 2FA card reader:

Yes, that’s the only thing at hand I had to cover the card number :)

user224,

Because I’ll be one of the first people engaging with the posts.

user224,

I should maybe attempt that at some point.

But knowing my brain, I’ll just forget everything 0.4 seconds after I am done.

user224,

For some reason, this didn’t work on my old phone after installing PixelExperience 11 on it.
There’s a third way. Bluetooth. At least you don’t need a cable, and you’ll save power.

For that reason, I usually use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi, unless I need higher bandwidth (except during peak hours of network usage, when my connection speed is below 1Mbps anyway).

user224,

Let’s analyze that. So there’s 3 things in there.

  1. User mentioned “bish”, which I autocorrected to Bishop. From past records, I can see user is not religious, thus we can assume it’s chess piece. Conclusion: Recommend chess sets and online chess games
  2. Based on "YOU’RE NOT GETTING ANY DATA FROM THIS " the user may be interested in privacy related software and services. Conclusion: Recommend VPNs and E2EE messaging services.
  3. User keeps eating the mic. Conclusion: Recommend dildo.
user224,

I use free-mp3-download.net but that’s probably not what you are looking for. You need to search up every song manually.
As far as I know, the source is Deezer, so almost all FLACs are legitimate. Almost.

user224,

Because you only need a browser.

user224,

Fine, it’s 23:46. You got me to check my PC. Let’s have a look.

Pretty clean, I’d say. At least on this install.

Old data, man.
https://i.imgur.com/jtKYVLN.jpg
It’s even better now.

user224,

Beware that what OP posted is old data. India is over 14% on Linux as of October 2023.

user224,

I believe you haven’t met the Yandex Captcha. I don’t know anyone who passed that.

user224,

The most I got at once was around 21 I think. But twice I did such number without passing.

I should finally look at one of those automated captcha solver extensions for Firefox. I know some are more accurate than humans anyway.

user224,

Can’t quite put them inside my phone.

But maybe if I’ll ever get to constructing my own phone it will have space for a 2.5" HDD.
But calling what I am thinking of a phone is quite a stretch.

user224,

I rarely delete stuff. Just buy more storage.

Anyway, I am currently waiting for 1TB Micro SD cards to get cheaper.

user224,

I can stop this. I can just never have kids.
