How Do I Avoid Giving Home Address to Bank?

I’ve heard of things like iPostal and Traveling Mailbox. Do these services allow you to register with bank, DMV, IRS, Voting, etc? How do they work? Would a normal P.O box using its physical address from USPS work? I’ve tried researching it and haven’t gotten clear answers....

Banks require a physical address, that’s part of basic KYC (know your customer) requirements and part of anti money laundering / anti terrorism funding laws.

So they won’t accept P.O. boxes. While those mail forwarders can work, some will also blacklist them over time.

And really, ask yourself the question if you want your cards, PIN, and general correspondence about your finances mailed to a random third party where some underpaid person opens up and scans your letters all day…

Not quite sure what you mean with whitepages btw., your bank is not signing you up anywhere.

Haven’t noticed any difference. I buy non-processed foods only (meat, vegetables, grains, spices) and everything has been pretty stable for decades.

My cats come and go as they please, one spends about 90% of her time indoors, the other mostly nights, but is gone during daytime. I usually see her when I walk my dog, she’ll creep up from behind a bush and finish the walk with us, come in for a snack and then be gone again.

I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

Yeah I don’t like automatic either, and have an aversion towards anything that needs a touchscreen to operate.

@viking@infosec.pub avatar

Yeah but you need to use a Tesla.

That phase-out was in the works for 15+ years. Pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that the UK has been stalling it for years, so they definitely knew it was coming.

Shame they lost their voice in the EU commission and have yet another consequence of their own actions to swallow.

Quite rubbery with zero flavor on its own. If you grind it up and season it well, it tastes like those fake meats without being fake, but still tasting fake. You didn’t miss a thing.

Send her home? It’s not like you are forced to spend a whole day with a hookup?

You mean 18-99? Haven’t used tinder in ~7 years or so, but I believe there was an upper limit. Found out by trial and error that apparently some women enter their year of birth instead of their age, when I matched with someone who was allegedly 97 years old.

Do you know sorted foods on youtube? They have a bunch of different series, one where they do just that, going in alphabetical order from A-Z and then drawing a random country starting with that letter, and then cooking the national dish plus some community recommendations. It’s quite fun!

I love casual profanities, fuck that.

Half of the channel you mention here were listed in the thread about youtubers who went to shit, which triggered this one here…

Mark Rober.

He got louder, flashier, less techy and more talky and is doing a gazillion reruns of the same general idea over and over. Can’t really enjoy it anymore.

viking,
@viking@infosec.pub avatar

Yeah he talks like he’s on coke now. Borderline unwatchable. I bet you can reduce the playback speed by 50% and it would de-stress the whole experience.

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

I was with you in the first paragraph.

In the second I wanted to differentiate between the original trilogy and whatever came next.

In the third one, my opinion is directly opposite.

Is there any specific use case for the app that you don’t get with the mobile website?

I’ve figured out that my bank’s app is basically a wrapper for the mobile website, the only thing they added being fingerprint login.

Instantly deleted the app and use the website now, one less thing that can potentially spy on me.

That should be the direct link to your profile, if I didn’t have a typo anywhere: lemmy.world/u/lettruthout?page=1&sort=New&amp… (only visible to yourself)

Fennec (Firefox based), with Ghostery and uBlock origin installed.

You’ll have to set add-ons up as a private collection for them to work, but it’s easy as pie.

I think Edge is the only browser on Linux that can display 1080p videos, not even chromium does.

But yeah I won’t install Edge, ever.

Videos from Amazon Prime, Netflix etc., not general videos. I can watch 4k videos in Firefox without any problems, if there’s no rights management in place.

Every proper restaurant is unique. I believe you are talking about fast-food joints.

My friend’s dad has a CNC machine that requires floppy disks to load the design patterns. He’s worried that a mechanical failure of the disk drive will eventually be the end of it, rather than the machine itself being obsolete. It’s been going strong for almost 40 years now.
