That poor polar bear just spent too much on avocado toast and starbucks, obviously.

vivadanang, (edited ) to memes in Welcome to late stage capitalism

Capitalism with the unionization rate of that time would be much better than what we have today.

True. And the taxes: Eisenhower individual income above $200,000 was taxed at 90%, above $300,000 at 91%, and above $400,000 at 92%. That’d trim Musk Bezos etc. down to size, fund education, fund social security etc.

Corporate taxes topped out at 52% - the tax rate was 30% for the first $25,000 in profits that a company made, and 52% for anything over that amount.

Even with inflation taken into account - $300,000 in 1950 = $3,772,843.22 in 2023… entire generations have been robbed by the right wing.

very well put.

vivadanang, to asklemmy in Tech workers - what did your IT Security team do that made your life hell and had no practical benefit?

I dunno, gluing usb’s in a super sensitive environment like that is actually logical; on the disc drives - they could disable autoplay as well though removing or gluing them closed would be preferable. USB is just such an easy attack vector where the individual plugging it in may not have skills themselves - it might be easier to bribe cleaning folks for example - or inject a person into a cleaning team. Ideally they would attack multiple nodes of your target’s network via as many avenues as possible; which makes the network and vpn thing just silly indeed; perhaps they were waiting for someone to try something with excellent infosec / firewalls / traffic shaping. yeeeeah lol.

vivadanang, to science_memes in uhhh uhhhhh

lol this guy thinks a sentient race of cat-oids would let humans stay around short of enslavement

vivadanang, to linuxmemes in Yeah, very sorry that this app is Windows only, would love to switch to Mac

I just vomit at the idea that they’re making these laptops with ram soldered in. unupgradable garbage you have to pay ridiculous premiums for.

vivadanang, to fuck_cars in Vehicles with higher, more vertical front ends pose greater risk to pedestrians

HAHA I stand corrected. Musk wishes he had the Tesla Homer.

vivadanang, to memes in i don't wanna taco 'bout it

I don’t believe in a higher power but recognize this discussion. Hell I’m still farting off taco tuesday.

vivadanang, to memes in A bag could massacre a village

there’s more flavor there than a 9v battery.

vivadanang, to lemmyshitpost in I bet Rockstar is thinking twice about *checks notes* making a normal looking female character.

You don’t have to modify a lawn mower to flip it upside down and throw cats in it my friend.

no you just have to be a psychopath to suggest it.

did they break twitter, inject code, falsify user records, hack anything? No.

They used the service as it’s intended - picked some people and brands to follow then refreshed their feed. Buddy, that’s as organic as manure - and even if it somehow was gamed, dozens of other instances of hate shit being positioned aside brands THAT RIGHTFULLY DON’T WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH HATE SHIT have been posted - it’s not just media matters.

it’s not just the ADL’s criticism.

GET IT THROUGH YOUR FUCKING MELON - Musk’s the problem. Your refusal to see the obvious is sad.

vivadanang, to lemmyshitpost in I bet Rockstar is thinking twice about *checks notes* making a normal looking female character.

It wasn’t an organic thing and it’ll be interesting to see if it goes to court.

it was completely organic. no outside-twitter resources were used to achieve the result - they literally used twitter’s tools and proved it could happen readily. That’s all advertisers need to see to bug the fuck out.

vivadanang, to memes in Well that's one way to ruin my day

would add baking soda but yeah, it gets the funk out.

vivadanang, to lemmyshitpost in Be a better pirate.

what kinda land lubber whaleshite be this?

vivadanang, to asklemmy in Gifts for young kids who are really into airplanes?

Yup. Museum of Flight (seattle) or NASM in DC are AMAZING and you can easily spend multiple days just taking in their static displays.

vivadanang, to mildlyinteresting in An "airport neighbourhood" where people can store their planes in their yard and taxi directly to the runway

I feel like it should be … for the amount of gas I release while cycling.
