What opinion just makes you look like you aged 30 years
So, as any self-respecting datahoarder and selfhoster, I have my server rack populated with a few machines, churning along as they tend to my hobby-related projects. Now that I’ve started using Lemmy I’m toying with the idea of selfhosting an instance, as I have both the hardware, bandwidth, and skillset for it....
I am looking for a fediverse solution for a blog and I tried it with writefreely, but it has some disadvantages I can’t live with....

I’m an Indian guy in my twenties, living in US. I used to have cornflakes and the like for breakfast, but recently I turned lactose intolerant. I hate cornflakes without the milk....
Let it all out. Be a storm
Think of it as “people kibble”. Without shame, I would eat Cheetos as my solitary food item for the rest of my life (CRUNCHY, not puffs)
Would sound stupid as I don't indepth of PeerTube yet but I have heard that PeerTube is federated video sharing platform. I also heard it can't hold much a load which makes sense as HD videos takes lots of load. That begs me the question why don't we use it for small/short videos(not those vertical videos) to build communities...
Even more strange is that when I type "PeerTube", some suggestions appear, but searching any of them will end up back on the "no results found" page....
Is there anything you’d like to talk about or share but haven’t found a place to do so? What communities (or “subreddits” for all Reddit refugees) would you like to see?...
I like being able to edit titles!
It is not the matter of what if you are found. It’s the matter of when.
I have disabled it for myself but want to know what others have experienced.
I remember a while back Apple filed a patent that allows concerts to disable iPhones cameras if a certain signal is emitted from the stage. Apple never implemented this, but my pessemistic ass always try to think of worse case scenarios, like being used by government. Do you think this could occur in the future?...
Am I the only one who gets bunch of posts from leftist and even communist subs/circlejerks in their feed? It’s kinda weird to see genzedong and similar popping up in hot/rising feed. This just hopefully some of the growing pains of a new platform.

Hi guys, I’m on lemmy since the reddit api announcement and am subscribed to tens of communities. When I’m setting my feed to watch topics only from Subscribed communities (hot/active), I see a lot of topics from the same communities, like 10 topics in a row from 1 community then 3 from a different one and again from the...
Hey Lemmy! I have a rather unusual request that requires your creative thinking. I'm embarking on a 3-day pooping marathon (don't ask why), and I need food suggestions that will maximize my bathroom visits. Feel free to get wild with your ideas! Bonus points if the food also makes me sweat. Let's make this a memorable...
I have an online friend from the other side of the globe. We met in chess.com. But I’d like to try a different game this time. We are not console gamers, but have smartphones. Are there any online games we can try for free that can be played real-time? Looking for something light and can be played in the phone browser.
To someone who is subscribed to multiple communities on Reddit, has there been any change in their feed in their quality or amount of posts since July 1st? Any change in the amount of comments in the posts? Even the number of community subscribers?...
I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?...
Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it...
I’m working on an activism campaign kicking off next week opposing some bad internet bills in the US – here’s the kbin magazine I just set up, and I might set up a Lemmy community as well if that makes sense. Once things get going, we’ll be sharing links including information and actions people can take....
I greatly respect when an app developer takes the care to design their app to follow their OS Human Interface Guidelines. Apps like Apollo (and wefwef/Voyager for Lemmy) for example rose to popularity partly due to looking and feeling like native iOS apps...
Your can make up one if you wish too but keep things pg-pg-13 becasue why not, idk. pretend this is an interveiw and try to get hired to join some big superhero company or something....
