Go Stametz!

Something_Complex, to lemmybewholesome in Not totally sure about that 2nd claim, but this is nice to see.

Wait, they can de-rail a train?

Wonkit,

Apparently, leaves that fall on the track are a significant issue that can cause derailments since they can turn into a lubricant when squished according to Forbes. I wouldn’t be surprised if turtles did the same (but don’t quote me on that)

With that said, the only thing I’ve actually found involving turtles are them getting stuck in switches

xantoxis,

Even if leaves were prone to cause this, turtles wouldn’t be. The amount of leaves in the world vs the amount of turtles in the world isn’t even comparable.

deweydecibel, (edited )

That article does not state that leaves can derail trains. The gunk/mulch that results from trains crushing leaves lubricates the wheels, which reduces the friction. That means it takes longer for the train to accelerate and brake. It can potentially be unable to stop as quickly as it should, which can potentially lead to more accidents, and then to more derailments. It contributes, it isn’t a cause.

It just reduces the wheel’s grip on the tracks a bit, not unlike how water on the road can reduce the grip of your tires. It’s still on the track, they’re not slipping off it like a cartoon stepping on a banana peel.

yeah i’m skeptical of that, trains weigh A LOT and i’d wager bone doesn’t much bother them.

Amiss3209,

exactly, it’s A FUCKING TRAIN

The conductors keep swerving, duh!

My wife always gets mad when I point out that the dog sits around all day, demands the food off of her plate, and constantly interrupts her when he is bored or wants attention, but she spends hours doting over him and praising him. I, on the other hand, work all day to sustain our lifestyle, spend a lot of my “leisure” time doing chores around the house, and am mindful to be polite, but I barely get a hug and “I love you”.

For anyone who is in doubt, I mean it in jest. I don’t need constant reassurance and reward to keep being a responsible adult. Also, though she will not admit it, she knows the dog is much cuter than me.

Turtle on the right is upside down and will die anyway, unless left turt helps flip him over.

oldGregg,

That’s been disproven.

GBU_28,

While in an unnatural tunnel?

Source!

crawley,

?? Really ?? That’s good news. I’ve never seen a video of a turtle flipping itself over.

LostXOR,

Yeah, looks like they can do it pretty easily. Here's a video I found: https://youtu.be/UO0kar6EUwI

crawley,

Hell yeah turts!

Epicurus0319,

Mr_Fish, to starwarsmemes in Fallen Order/Survivor for sure

Definitely fallen order for me, not quite as much survivor. There was something terrifying about “oh shit Vader is here? And he just casually tossed Cere? And now we’re fighting him? Wait, where’s his health bar?” And then you just get crushed.

rtxn, to lemmybewholesome in Not totally sure about that 2nd claim, but this is nice to see.

This conjures an image of a very determined Bert the Turtle smoking a cigarette and declaring “I’m gonna derail that fucking train.”

BURN, to starwarsmemes in Fallen Order/Survivor for sure

Kenobi

But only parts of the portrayal. The absolute menacing figure walking through the streets killing at a whim was easily the best representation of prime Vader, but that broke down the longer the episode went.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA,

Vader always knew how to strut

EditsHisComments,

Each episode of Kenobi, and the show as a whole, seemed like it started with a great idea that just got worse the more they drew it out. Anytime I rewatch it, I skip through any scene that isn’t mostly Vader or Anakin / Vader and Obi-Wan.

Just give me a PG-13 or MA-rated miniseries - that isn’t afraid to test the limits - about Vader in his prime. I want to see “All I’m surrounded by are dead men,” energy on screen.

fluckx,

Wasn’t there a guy who turned the series into a movie by remastering it into a 1h30m video. I think I bookmarked that on my Reddit account before Lemmy was around ( or before the whole fuck spez thing anyway. Lemmy has been around longer than that ).

Miimikko,

Please link it if you happen to find it again!

fluckx,

I think it was this one ( quick Google search ) www.kaipattersonfilms.com/kenobi

Edit: it’s 2.5h

Edit 2: I haven’t seen it, so I don’t even know if it’s any good. I’m not associated with or receive any benefit by linking it here.

DonjonMaester,

I saw it, and not the series. 7.5/10

KidsTryThisAtHome,
@KidsTryThisAtHome@lemmy.world avatar

I watched it some time after watching the series, it does a decent job of cutting out the filler and making it more enjoyable. If I remember right they just straight up cut out reva’s character. A notable moment is the beginning when Leia is somehow able to outwit and outrun multiple adults that have her surrounded, that chase is completely cut out and they just grab her right there XD

Oz0ne, to starwarsmemes in Fallen Order/Survivor for sure

When he showed up in Rogue One… omfg!

shalafi,

That’s the Vader we saw in 1977. R1 showed Vader unleash the pent-up violence he was clearly capable of in the originals.

Dude was scary as hell back then. Even through ROJ, when he lights up Luke’s lightsaber at the Endor base, there was a hushed gasp.
