Reddit is dead to me. It was fun while it lasted, but it's now in the past. Kbin is where I'll be going forward.

Nope, no regrets here.

Big_Dick_Dastardly, in Does anyone regret deleting their Reddit account?

When Apollo died, so did my account. I haven’t been on Reddit at all since, and am totally okay with it.

explodingkitchen, in Does anyone regret deleting their Reddit account?

I still have an account (to make sure things stay deleted) but I jumped ship three weeks ago. No regrets.

SHamblingSHapes,

Same here. Instead of deleting comments though, I overwrote them with some random nonsense kids poem. Any little thing I can do to screw up their inevitable monetization as a dataset for LLMs.

No regrets.

SinningStromgald, in Does anyone regret deleting their Reddit account?

No.

That's weird I don't get any images when viewing through lemmy.world

solrize, in I needed a world-news aggregator to help me get off that other site so I made one

Too many pictures. It looks like a meme sub. I’d rather have sth that looks like Hacker News or lite.cnn.com. That is, very compact, and pure text. I’m glad if it works for you though.

I’m another text fan, but love that people are developing tools to use the fedi in a variety of ways, so people can process the information their own way.

So thanks and good luck

DerEineDa, in Automated ways of removing reddit content?

I used github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite with huge success.

abff08f4813c,

I am pretty sure PDS does not currently support using the GDPR archive, and thus can miss things.

Fudgeknuckles98, in Automated ways of removing reddit content?

As far as I’m aware this was possible before the api changes. I’m not sure it’s possible anymore

explodingkitchen,

I finished using Andrew Banchich's shreddit (install via cargo, it's mentioned above) only yesterday.

roadrussian, in Reddit mods fear spam overload as BotDefense leaves “antagonistic” Reddit

Eh, the ball is already rolling. I've noticed more people spotting reposts and spam as well as myself. Subreddits doing a harakiri aint helping.

Steve Huffman thought his bank account should be like Zuck and Musk’s because he also ran a social media site. Took advice from Musk, who just wasted 44 billion dollars and had ZERO experience with social media, then turned Reddit into an actual pile of garbage just like that.

What an actual failure of a human lmao

squirrel,
@squirrel@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It’s so absurd: On paper Huffman has managed a social media platform much, much longer than Musk, but somehow he is so ignorant that he looks to Musk to tell him what to do with it.

Reddit is about to turn into an even bigger mess.

livus,
@livus@kbin.social avatar

Yes, Reddit moving another step closer to Dead-Internet Theory.

There were already bots talking to bots on there. This is about to get worse. I don't think most people realised how many bots BotDefense was finding and neutralizing.

ininewcrow, in There needs to be a step by step migration guide
@ininewcrow@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve been on Lemmy and Kbin on separate accounts now for about a month and I still don’t really know what I’m doing. The same thing happened to me when I joined Reddit about 12 years ago.

I just learned as I went along. I’m going to do the same this time around.

livus, in BotDefense is wrapping up operations : r/BotDefense
@livus@kbin.social avatar

In January of 2023, we added an incredible 10,070 bots to our ban list

Holy crap. Reddit really is about to be overrun by bots and AI talking amongst themselves.

I hope some of the bot defense team come to the fediverse. They are cool people.
