Basically my heart is here now and this is where I come for social media , that does not mean I will not use reddit from time to time , but those times are getting less and less, my main reason to use reddit now is to promote lemmy. To give a better idea I spent probably an hour a day on reddit or two or three visits. Now I have not visited for over a week and recent visits have been a few minutes.
Lol, haha, I never thought about that. I used to watch a shit-ton of movies as a teen. Got into horror movies, David Lynch and weird stuff early on so I kind of dove into the deep end very early and with no social life there was a lot of time to watch a lot of stuff.
I seem to be having a phase where I don’t really watch movies that much (series more than ever), but when I do it’s usually kind of “comfort food” so I’m mostly watching all-time favorites over and over again.
FIFA23. Yeah I know it’s a shit game but I just play it for the couch multiplayer experience! Anyway 22 was working great on linux but they added a new DRM so the new one doesn’t work anymore. Hopefully someone can get the next one to run on Linux so I can ditch windows again.
You should go see the github for lemmy-ui. There is feature request to add the weight of the community into account so we don’t only see the most popular post from the biggest communities. github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues
That’d be great. Currently 90% of my feed is /c/memes and while I do find them entertaining, I also miss a ton of posts from smaller communities related to my hobbies that I would engage with more.
Yeah, I had to leave memes because it was my whole feed. I feel like one of lemmy’s biggest potential selling points would be a scriptable feed. There are some small communities I want to see every post in, and other huge ones that I only want to see maybe the top 5 from.
I haven’t looked at the PR, but if it’s really that simple, that doesn’t seem like the full solution. I don’t particularly want a sub with 10 users popping up on the front page after 3 upvotes just because it got to the top of that sub. Sub weight, as mentioned in the top comment here, should probably be taken in to account.
Doesn’t stop them from showing up via All and Local, which is what I want to do without having the completely block these communities. Just my preference.
Basically visual arts software and some writing software. Additionally I have a free version of Ableton Live Lite 11 (so one music-making application as well) that came with my keyboard.
I mostly do photography, writing, and other visual arts type work on my two computers. I use quite a few photography and painting applications (Photoshop, ArtRage, Rebelle, Lightroom, Inspirit, and a few others; I’m also looking at BlackInk), as well as Scrivener and MS Office when I’m writing. I don’t know if any of those run well or at all in Linux or in Wine, etc. Also I stopped flirting with learning programming and there wasn’t much point maintaining a Linux machine after that. I think Linux is better than Windows all around, and I hate Windows, but it’s just because I use certain apps and from what I’ve heard and seen the Linux apps just aren’t as good.
TLDR, creative software that won’t run on Linux (to my knowledge, anyway).
What’s the difference between syncthing and just setting up a NAS? basically just not having to buy the hardware and using the computer you already have?
An MMO called Mabinogi, but only because it’s literally designed to suck as much time and money away from you as possible without you noticing. Steam says I’m nearing 5,000 hours, but more than half my playtime was from before it was on steam, so it’s probably closer to 12,000 to 13,000 hours. I haven’t even reached the end game yet.
At this point, I don’t really play it anymore. I think from now on I need to start avoiding games that are gonna absorb that much of my time for so little progress. Definitely wasn’t mentally healthy because I wasn’t even enjoying myself a good way in, I was just addicted.
Not really, I try to avoid it even when something i’m looking for is there, though sometimes I just cant be bothered to look elsewhere. I hope someone gathers all the useful information from there into archive somewhere, in case something happens to it.
