Give a proper first aid for minor injuries. People tend to dissmiss minor burn/cut/bruises, but first aid right after it is what minimizes lingering pain,.
There was a bug with the hot sort a couple weeks ago, so that kind of poisoned the well a little bit. I’m never sure if the poor sorting is due to another bug or if it’s just the nature of how hot and active sort works. Assuming the sorts are working as intended, I’m beginning to believe that lemmy is just too small for hot and active to work well. Maybe they’ll be more applicable if lemmy grows to the size of reddit.
But anyway, I’ve just been sticking to the “top” sorts, for now. Those work well.
College is a great place to start. Unfortunately college is ridiculously expensive these days, but community college is still pretty affordable. There are so many things you don’t even know exist in the world right after highschool. The world also works a lot differently than you’ve seen so far, so a college level education is really beneficial. Go to community college, knock out some Gen Ed courses, and take some interesting classes for your electives. You’ll learn about stuff that you didn’t know existed and you may find that you’re passionate about some of those things.
World of Warcraft. In RimWorld, I have over 3000 hours logged. World of Warcraft? Conservatively, I would estimate 10,000. I haven’t played since 2016, so I can’t check, but that’s in line with the /played time across several characters.
That’s what a lot of us agreed it was for a long time ago, but most people use it as an “I don’t like this”, or “I disagree” button. Some people even use it as an “I don’t like you personally” button. There were a few times on Reddit when I got into an argument with someone and they went through my profile and downvoted everything they saw until they got bored.
For the moment it is still a massive repository of useful esoteric knowledge. I’ve stopped using it for anything active / current, but so long as it exists and is searchable I don’t see that I’ll be able to move away from accessing it entirely.
I go skateboarding. It clears my mind completely. It doesn’t matter that I can’t keep up with modern tricks or anything. It still puts me in a zen state of mind and being physically tiring it leaves me relaxed and not worried about anything.
Exercise is definitely part of it, but also the feeling of accomplishment and occupying the mind.
I’m sure other physical activities can do something similar, but it’s important to find something that fits you.
