Strictly Ballroom

mdmachine, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I was a joey user. But already had my lemme already set up for this day. I might use reddit just to track the events of the Ukraine war and some stable diffusion stuff. But most of that discord and telegram can be used instead.

Maybe occasionally subredditdrama to see the meltdowns happening. For now I’m trying to see which lemmy app I like best. Right now connect seems to be the one I am using most.

onehellofausername, in What is the most unhelpful advice you have received?

My dad once told me that if my relationship with god was good, my grades would take care of themselves. I know what he meant was, “if you do the things god wants you to do, you’ll also be doing well in school”, but it’s still horrible advice.

More recently, my mother-in-law has been saying to my wife that she wishes that my wife could have faith in god’s plan because it just helps her in own life so much. I always roll my eyes at this. If there is a god, and he has a plan, his plan sucks ass and he plays favorites for sure.

obi_one, in What movie did you rewatch most often?

The Shawshank Redemption

Kritoke, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Not completely, there are still some niche, non-technical communities that are probably never going to switch. I hope at some point they do, but still go once in a while to check. I don’t go daily like I used to, mostly do lemmy daily since the apps are getting so good now.

Martenz05, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I have not gone to Reddit just to “use reddit” since discovering lemm.ee a couple weeks ago. Sometimes still end up on specific threads through search results, especially for obscure stuff on older video games.

McJonalds, in Downvotes = “I disagree” or “this is bad and you should feel bad”?

i will downvote anythong that is false, misleading, doesn’t contribute to the conversation or classic reddit humor adding to the same joke

freeman, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I have pretty much stopped.

It’s not usable on my phone and now searches are basically buggered with a number of subreddits being nsfw. So for example I was searching something specific to pop_os and can’t view the thread. Just closed it. Will block Reddit returns in Kagi now most likely.

I think there may have been a day or two where I looked at it for a few minutes in the browser at work over the past couple of weeks.

This is more of a support question related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for communities where you can find support.

Dinodicchellathicc,

Lets make an exception ;)

No harm no foul right?

Thank you

I’m getting tired of seeing those comments, it’s giving a little bit of condescension, and tbh I don’t want to see lemmy communities just turn into subreddits with a list of 30 strict rules you have to check your post against before submitting

It’s so unbelievably easy to just scroll past, I truly don’t understand people who don’t want to see it and could just scroll, but instead expend the energy to open the post and type out a comment instead

I know this technically isn’t the right community, but is it hurting anyone? Could we view it as an opportunity to help someone today? Idk people are so into their own little world.

Noxvento, in How to make subscribed feed more diversed?

I unsubscribed from memes because it was flodding my feed way too much. It’s better now.

LemmyseemyP,

Memes is honestly terrible. At first I got a tiny mild chuckle out of it but now it’s just too prominent.

pebble3292,
@pebble3292@lemmy.world avatar

Same. Today the user spamming 7 different memes was the last drop in my bucket.

Since unsubbing it is a so much better experience

Chozo,

I recommend that everybody keep two accounts on their instance of choice (as long as this is within the rules of your instance). Keep one account for all the "brain on" stuff, and one account for the "brain off' stuff. You know what I mean, interpret it how you like.

If you're using one of the mobile apps, most of them support very easy quick account switching, which makes this even easier on your phone. It definitely makes it a lot more manageable, in my experience.

norm,

It’s crazy how much unfunny crap is posted there. So much better now that I unsubbed

Lemmies? 🤷

Candelestine,

Lemmies are the Instances themselves, actually. Lemmy.world, lemmy.ml, beehaw.com are all Lemmies/Instances/Servers. The terms are used interchangeably, with most calling them Instances.

loom_in_essence, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

Either skyrim or oblivion. probably Oblivion. It’s the most immersive game world I’ve encountered. Emminently replayable.

VediusPollio,

Rocket League, Halos, Command and Conquers.
