The system was a PS2. I think the first games I played personally would have been Ratchet and Clank or some licensed Disney shit like Peter Pan or Cars.
I am not sure which I played first but the most memorable ones are Bubble Bobble for the C64 or Goriallas on a really old DOS PC. Putting in really high velocity numbers to make the exploding banana fly through the building rather than trying to figure out an arch was my favorite strategy.
My first one was NES. I was just the right age in the late 80s to be caught in all of it. Funny thing is, I don’t remember asking for it. I think my parents just got me one, but I fell in love with games from that point on.
Heck, my second system was the Genesis, and I didn’t ask, or know about it, either! One of the best memories I have of growing up.
Went to the movies with family friends. When I came back, my dad had set up the Genesis and had Altered Beast playing on the tv. Coming from only knowing the NES, my mind was blown.
I generally start looking to replace mine around the time that Google Maps starts becoming laggy. That's usually around the 3 year mark for me. After 4 years things get pretty bad.
Nexus 5 -> Pixel 2 -> Pixel 6a
Practically every app update grows its respective compute and memory footprint. And over time, it adds up. Combine that with the big jumps in resource usage that come with OS updates, and eventually things just start slowing down.
First console was an NES! First games I remember playing were Ghostbusters and the TMNT arcade game. First time I fell in love with a video game...FF7. I'm excited for Rebirth to come out some day lol
