Here’s a few more music communities I found so far

(Sorry about the formatting I’m on a mobile app, links below might not work on a browser)

@Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml avatar

Lemmy.ml just preemptively did it. I think lemmy.world also did it earlier but you’ll have to double check that.

Fisch, in Is there a federated version of Soundcloud?
@Fisch@lemmy.ml avatar

Yes, it’s called Funkwhale

Amex, in What very old/unmaintained software do you still use today, and why?
@Amex@lemmy.ca avatar

elastomania.com

Elasto Mania (Elma). Awesome dirt bike game.

Stanley_Pain, in Anybody else gets more upvotes in here than over THAT site?
@Stanley_Pain@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Stop caring about upvotes, you’ll live a happier life.

const_void, in What are the bad patterns of Reddit to never repeat on Lemmy?

Calling communities “master race” as in /r/pcmasterrace

Mostly_Gristle, in What is a fun childish thing you still do as an adult?

It’s not that often that I’m in a car I’m not driving anymore, but when I’m a passenger you can bet your ass I’m imagining a little ninja dude running along side the car, doing sick ninja flips over stuff on the side of the road.

outbound, in What is a fun childish thing you still do as an adult?

Walking/balancing on curbs, retaining walls, downed trees in the forest - pretty much anything.

z3rOR0ne, in Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?
@z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml avatar

I was on Mastodon and Lemmy roughly a year before the Twitter and Reddit fiascos. I never was active on Twitter, never even had an account, but I’ll admit Reddit was my jam. I didn’t even use any of the 3rd party apps, I actually did use their main app and had no issues with it (except for the occasional annoying ad on my mobile device…). But when the needless greed of Spez started to show at the seams and the communities there started to divide, I took an afternoon to delete everything from nearly 4 years of posts/comments.

Both Mastodon and Lemmy were FAR less active prior to these migrations, and so I honestly checked in once every couple months. But then Mastodon started showing up in my main news feeds due to Musk’s idiocy, and I knew it was time…

Similarly, when Spez started to make the same decisions, I already knew where the party was likely to move.

I only started using Lemmy again yesterday when Memmy came out as I dislike using social media from my desktop (though I do occasionally).

It’s nice to see so much more activity here now. It’ll probably never get to the levels of Reddit, but hey that can be a good thing in its own right.

DRUMS_, in How are new communities created on Lemmy?

Ok, thanks. My instance is reddthat.com (relatively small I believe) and I don’t think I see a way to create a community. I will reach out to the instance admin and see if that is currently by design.

boonhet, in I'm the author of an April Fool's Internet Standard, AMA

I have no questions, but I want to let people here know that there are two excellent websites related to this: http.cat and http.dog, for looking up HTTP status codes.

For an example, if http.cat/418 doesn’t brighten your day, I don’t think there’s much that can.

Thteven, in Is there a line from a movie that really resonated with you but when you say it most people don't get the reference?

“Kick his ass, Sea Bass!”

Windex007, in What's a true fact that is so misleading it's borderline misinformation?

Women have smaller brains than men.

I mean, yes. Women as a population are physically smaller than men as a population.

Women have smaller fingers than men. Smaller eyes. Smaller lungs. There is no “gotcha” that smaller skeletal frames with smaller skulls contain, by volume, a smaller organ.

Doesnt mean every man’s brain is larger than every woman’s brain either.

Doesn’t mean men are smarter than women.

It’s just a statistic, that while true, doesn’t imply what some people think it does.

vis4valentine, in What's a true fact that is so misleading it's borderline misinformation?
@vis4valentine@lemmy.ml avatar

People use to say that you cant lie with statistics, but is a common practice to use statistics to lie.

We can take the infamous 41% suicide rate for trans people. Transphobes throw that out like a killing move implying that trans people are inherently unhappy and being trans is a mental illness (which is not true).

The reality is that the suicide rate is so high because of transphobia, kids getting thrown out of home, homelessness, unable to find a job, staying at the closet to avoid social consecuences, etc.

Trans people who live in more open and accepting environments are way less likely to be depressed and commit suicide. In progresive areas where trans people are more accepted the suicide rate is nowhere near 41%.
